Kevin's (Rocknroller) House

Tasted June 5, 2019 by Mattshank with 150 views

Introduction

Wow we had a solid line up of chilled wines (and a Pinot but it too had a slight chill) on a perfect warm, and somewhat humid summer day. All wines showed well and some exceptional. As always thanks Kevin for having us all over.

Flight 1 (7 notes)

Rosé - Sparkling
N.V. Camille Savès Champagne Grand Cru Brut Rosé France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru
93 points
Nose: Great up front minerality with ocean saline and fresh air aromas. Palate: Wonderful acidity with somewhat unripe red fruits with a very long elegant finish. Superb and my wine of the day.

White
2014 Kutch Chardonnay Santa Cruz Mountains USA, California, Santa Cruz Mountains
92 points
Nose: Present but judicious oak with ripe lemons. Palate: Just the right amount of toast with lemons showing in perfect proportions. On par with notes from last June.
White
2009 Kesner Chardonnay Sandrift USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast
90 points
Nose: Pineapple, soft lemon and mint hints. Palate: While older this still holds up well. Well integrated lemon and pineapples with a fairly lengthy finish.
Rosé
2017 Domaine Tempier Bandol Rosé France, Provence, Bandol
92 points
Nose: Peach and apricots in abundance with a saline minerality that takes you to the south of France. Fabulous. Palate: This shows off peaches with apricots and a firm mineral and acidic spine. As always...summer in a glass.
