Flight 1 (1 note)

White - Sparkling
1996 Krug Champagne Vintage Brut France, Champagne
From magnum.
Medium gold/straw with medium+ bubbles.
Nose of citrus, lemon, straw, honey, ginger. The palate is fresh and carries similar flavours as the aromas. There’s good intensity here, without being too bold. But my, it's so well balanced, rich enough and just so drinkable.

2003 Seppelt Riesling Drumborg Vineyard Australia, Victoria, Western Victoria, Henty
Mineral, pear, lemon, lanolin, florals and just a touch of kerosene. Palate is refined here. There’s a delicate balance as the flavours combine seamlessly with the acids. The sum is a delicious wine, with wonderful length.

2017 Holyman Chardonnay Holyman Australia, Tasmania
Citrus and stone fruits, honey glaze, mountain air. Palate is creamy and mouth filling, but still carries good linearity. It’s delicious.

Flight 3 (3 notes)

2009 Brokenwood Shiraz Graveyard Australia, New South Wales, Hunter Valley
Dark garnet. Dark fruits on the nose this time. Florals, and an earthy note too. The mid-full weighted palate has wonderfully fine, silty tannins which gives the wine a lovely texture. No rush here, but it’s drinking well already.
1998 Penfolds Bin 389 Australia, South Australia
Decanted. Mid garnet with a little bricking.
Black fruits, leather, sweet cherry, touch of smoke. Mid-weighted, rounded and resolved palate. A mature wine, not overly complex, that’s drinking very well.

2012 Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barbaresco
PnP. Open for business straight away. The nose is full of red florals, and red and blue fruits. The palate really is lush, as has been noted. It’s by no means decadent or rich, but it’s generous and inviting. The tannins here were fine and dusty and melted away with the meal. Lovely showing.

Red - Fortified
1967 Stonyfell Vintage Port Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, Langhorne Creek
From the Peter Lehmann cellar.
Light to mid-garnet. Caramel, cocoa, hint of raisin. Such a mature, easy going, mouth filling palate. There’s nothing but silky, smooth goodness here. A real treat.
