Red
2017 Agrivinicola di Portelli Salvatore Frappato Italy, Sicily, Vittoria DOC
88 points
Classic orange peel nose but much darker and more complex than most Frappatos I have tasted. Really robust not as elegant but still having some finesse and I do like it. Need a research trip to Sicily not sure what food I would match this style of Frappato with.
Red
2016 Agrivinicola di Portelli Salvatore Cerasuolo di Vittoria Portelli Italy, Sicily, Cerasuolo di Vittoria

Almost a year later since I last tasted this. Love the spice and robust flavors. A blend of Frappato and Nero d Avola. It really is nice but hard for me to pair. It is also $28 and I am seeing other values.

Red
2017 Agrivinicola di Portelli Salvatore Vittoria Calabrese Italy, Sicily, Vittoria DOC
88 points
Dark rich and tannic. Lovely intense wine but quite approachable. Needs hearty food. Has aging potential. The price is a bit high at $24.
Red
2016 La Quercia Aglianico Puglia IGT Italy, Puglia, Puglia IGT
89 points
Young and very aromatic with complex fruit, this is a voluptuous wine. The acidity and tannins are all in balance. Very seductive right now it will really benefit from year or two.
Red
2017 Poderi Elia Dolcetto d'Alba Italy, Piedmont, Alba, Dolcetto d'Alba
85 points
The first bottle was corked and the second bottle was okay, interesting with a nice level of spicy flavors, but this paled behind other reds in the tasting. More than adequate, might give it a third chance if I encounter it on a wine list but today it is a wallflower.
Red
2017 Tenuta La Pergola Monferrato Blended by Kermit Lynch Italy, Piedmont, Monferrato
87 points
Have bought this blend in previous years and this vintage is similar, a great value at $12. Spicy and complex, with ample acidity a weeknight red, that will work with anything. Will improve with time but nice now. It is an blend: 40% Barbera di Monferrato, 25% Barbera d’Asti Cappellatta, 25% Barbera d’Asti, 10% Bonarda (Charbono). Great value

White
2017 Bocelli Bianco Toscana IGT Italy, Tuscany, Toscana IGT
83 points
Decent house white but not much beyond that. Bit flacid and showing some age, good body but on the saline side. Pricy at $14. There are far better whites out there.
Rosé
2018 Château de Trinquevedel Tavel France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Tavel
90 points
Really a light red rather than a rose. This orange pink wine cries out for food. think of it as a very light Pinot with good development in terms of food pairing. I always like it but it is too pricy for me at $20.
White
2017 Giocato Chardonnay Slovenia, Primorska, Goriška Brda
84 points
Very commercial Chardonnay but no soul and for $17 I want personality and intent.
White
2018 Domaine du Salvard Cheverny Blanc France, Loire Valley, Touraine, Cheverny
89 points
Classic and well executed. Always dependable. Fairly intense without being overpowering, dry and crisp with a great linger.
