Introduction

Old Bordeaux and Ribeye Steak cooked by Alex.

Flight 1 - Fabulous 1996 de Venoge Louis XV (1 note)

Terrific Champagne start to a great lunch.

White - Sparkling
1996 de Venoge Champagne Brut Louis XV France, Champagne
96 points
Nose of lemon/lime, nuts, berry, and touch of honey, same on the palate, big body, mouth filling fruit, lots of complexity, lovely to sip and savor, entire wine group enjoyed this Champagne, many favorable comments, lovely fine bubbles formed a mousse in the glass, and a long, long, flavorful finish and aftertaste. Flight 2 - Old Classified Bordeaux (3 notes)

1982 and 1986 Bordeaux.

Red
1982 Château Gruaud Larose France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
99 points
Nose of black berry, red bell pepper, saddle leather, and forest floor, same on the palate, big body, at it's peak, what a gorgeous wine, mouth filling and rich fruit on the palate, just delicious tasting throughout the 3 hour lunch, long, long, flavorful finish and terrific aftertaste, thank you Joe for sharing this fabulous Chateau Gruaud Larose. #1 of 3. Red
1986 Château Léoville Las Cases France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
93 points
Nose of tar, earth, leather, black cherry, and sweet fruit, more of the same on the palate, opened very slowly over 3 hours to brooding fruit, all commented it needs 5 year to be its best and is a 50 year wine, big body, disappointing as intensely concentrated but no excitement, and long finish. My #2 of 3. Uploaded photo.

1986 Château Lynch-Bages France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
92 points
Nose of black cherry, black berry, black currants, leather, and cassis, more of the same on the palate, big body, moth filling fruit, slightly closed and brooding fruit today, and a long, flavorful finish and aftertaste, slightly disappointing bottle for me, #3 of 3.
