BYO Dinner at Maloney and Porcelli (Organized by Acker Merrall)

Tasted December 1, 2007 by carnyc with 638 views

Introduction

One hundred people each brought at least one bottle of wine and were grouped in tables of ten based on the value of their bottles. In the beginning, you would share the bottles at your respective tables, but after a short introductory period people basically walked around the room and offered tastes in exchange for a taste of whatever you brought. What fun it was to drink with people of such generosity! Here were some of the amazing wines:

2001 CDP Beaucastel Blanc
2005 Paul Hobbs Pinot Noir
2003 Turley Hayne Petite Syrah
2003 El Nido (El Nido)
2005 Torbreck The Factor
1990 CDP Beaucastel
2002 Dal Forno Valpolicella Superiore
1999 Shafer Hillside Select
1990 Dominus Estate
1991 Dominus Estate
1959 Chateau Caillou Sauternes
1989 Lynch Bages
1996 Mouton Rothchild
1929 Mouton Rothschild
1997 Insignia (just barely behind the Pingus)
1996 Pingus (my WOTN)

My only regret is that I failed to take any sort of notes on these wines other than a few scores.
