Introduction

bittersweet as it was beerzebub's last official offline with us; also was an opportunity for dlee to reunite with beerzebub, and introduce us to tammie the goldie.

Flight 1 (13 notes)

Rosé - Sparkling
N.V. Ulysse Collin Champagne Rosé de Saignée Extra Brut (2014) Les Maillons France, Champagne
disgorged 3/2018.
deep salmon ruby color with orangey tinge, delicate bead. *dry* red fruit, juicy, nice richness; very strongly mineral. Still seems a bit unsettled, the minerality jumps out at this stage; would give it some more time to see if it integrates. 90 pts with upside
White
2013 Cameron Blanc Clos Electrique USA, Oregon
light golden color. Nose floral, lemon oil, some cream. Palate some lemony richness, strongly mineral; stone fruit with time. Still shows some oak at this stage, probably still too young. Would let it sit for another 1-2 years at least. 91 pts with upside.

Rosé - Sparkling
N.V. Potel-Prieux Champagne Brut Rosé France, Champagne
light bronze/coppery rose color. Rich/almost creamy mouthfeel, hint of grape skin, strongly mineral, almost tannic. Some smoky notes as well. Unique flavors for a rose champagne, fascinating to try; a bit brutish however. 90 pts
Rosé
2018 Lone Madrone Mourvèdre Rosé USA, California, Central Coast, Paso Robles Willow Creek District
pale rose color, almost metallic. Nose forward, waxy, roses and black cherry. Palate rich, off-dry and fruity. Very pleasant to drink if not the most deep; recommend with a chill. 90 pts
Rosé
2018 Weingut Keller Westhofener Spätburgunder Rosé trocken Germany, Rheinhessen
almost clear, light salmony pink color. Nose waxy, apricot with hint of honey. Palate, lean, tart orange, some red fruits; with warming, more of a waxy richness, but still an acidic/lean impression. A bit on the shrill end of the spectrum for a rose, would be good with rich/fatty food; not recommended as an aperitif on its own. 88 pts

Red
2012 Eric Texier Côte-Rôtie Vieilles Vignes France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Côte-Rôtie
lightly cloudy, violet with hint of browning/separation. Nose savory, olive, earthy and tobacco notes rounding out a red-fruited core. Palate fresh red fruit, *earthy,* tobacco, a bit of green bell pepper/pyrazine; some tannin. Still young but very nice complexity, great typicity. 92 pts with upside
Red
2014 Greywacke Pinot Noir New Zealand, South Island, Marlborough
dark ruby with light separation at the edges. Nose lightly earthy, red fruit, some peppery spice. Palate polished blueberry and cherry fruit, hint of earth; a bit meaty; some tannins on the finish.

A bit simple but does check all the boxes for a slightly modern-leaning pinot. 89 pts
Red
2014 Bedrock Wine Co. Syrah Weill a Way Vineyard USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Valley
dark violet color. Nose blackberries. Palate initially rich vanilla, ripe fruit; some maple syrup towards the finish; with time a peppery/olive note emerges but still mostly fruit. Very young and profoundly primary; some depth is hinted at but hard to get a gauge on it right now. 89 pts with upside; won't be opening my other bottle for at least a few years.

Red
2013 Henri Jouan Morey St. Denis Vieilles Vignes France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey St. Denis
light transparent ruby. Nose light red cherries with hint of earth. Palate light/refreshing, cool fruit, strongly rocky minerality; wonderful lightness on the palate yet an ethereal depth as well, beguiling.

I loved this frankly, it was my WOTN. My first Jouan, but not my last. 94 pts

Red
1999 Nicolas Potel Bonnes Mares France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Bonnes Mares Grand Cru
dark ruby with lightly cloudy translucence. Nose slightly musty, some earth; fleshy red cherries with a bit of funk. Palate surprisingly light/balanced, transparent red fruits yet density on the midpalate, hint of baking spice. A lovely drink and at apogee to my taste. 93 pts
White - Sweet/Dessert
2016 Framingham Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese F-Series New Zealand, South Island, Marlborough
rich golden color. Nose gasoline, then concentrated dried apricot. Palate thick and syrupy, botrytis and honey notes; obviously sweet yet nice acidity. Good potential and very interesting to try this kind of wine from NZ. 92 pts
Beer
2016 Deschutes & Hair of the Dog Breweries Conflux No. 2 Collage USA, Oregon
100% barrel-aged ale. bottled on 8/1/16. 14.3% abv.
Caramel color with foamy head. Nutty, rich, sweet and boozy. Good for the style but a bit much overall; could pair well with a creamy and light dessert. 89 pts
Beer
2013 Russian River Brewing Company Consecration USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley
sour ale barrel-aged 4-8 mos in cabernet sauvignon barrels with added currants; refermented in the bottle. 10% abv.

browned/burnt sienna color with vibrant head. Nose grapefruit, light caramel. Palate light body, tart acidity, profound complexity. Wonderful. 92 pts
