Flight 1 (6 notes)

White
2014 Chateau Montelena Riesling USA, California, North Coast, Potter Valley
Notes of savory spices, earth, petrol, stone fruit and toasted almonds on the nose. Bright succulent fruit on the attack with decent secondary depth. Zesty acidity with roundness on the palate. Nicely done.
White
2010 Chateau Montelena Chardonnay USA, California, Napa Valley
Aromas of damp earth, white florals, stone fruit and savory spices. Nice brightness to the fruit on the palate, citrusy and floral with spicy depth on the finish and pleasing texture. Very nice.
Red
2012 Chateau Montelena Zinfandel The Montelena Estate USA, California, Napa Valley, Calistoga
Aromas of mulled spices, brambly dark fruit, root spices and rocky earth. Stately and elegant palate with nice fruit expression & secondary depth, and easy round tannin on the finish. Drinking well.
Red
2011 Chateau Montelena Cabernet Sauvignon The Montelena Estate USA, California, Napa Valley, Calistoga
Fragrant aromas - red florals, crushed stone, peppercorn, redcurrant. Elegant and silky on the palate with blackcurrant & cherry, along with floral, allspice/paprika-like spices, and hints of cedar and earth. Medium weight with fine softer structure. Good overall depth to the finish. Drinking well- seems like it would be a good Montelena Estate to drink young.

Red
2007 Chateau Montelena Cabernet Sauvignon The Montelena Estate USA, California, Napa Valley, Calistoga
Exotic and dense aromatics - crushed stone, crushed flowers, anise, blackcurrant, dark florals. Complex palate with very nice elegant density in the middle. Fine tannins, plenty of structure. Needs time.

Red
2016 Chateau Montelena Zinfandel USA, California, Napa Valley, Calistoga
Jammier than the Montelena Estate Zin - blue fruits, spices and florals. Juicy tannins, straight-forward style.
