2016 Domaine Corinne et Jean Pierre Grossot Chablis 1er Cru Vaucoupin France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru
Cheesy, savoury nose, a little wild ferment funk, butter and lemon underpin. Juicy, savoury, similar flavours to the nose but a lovely balance. With time it sheds that funky note and begins to gain richness and weight. Yum.

2015 Anne et Jean-Francois Ganevat Côtes du Jura La Gravière France, Jura, Côtes du Jura
Served quite cold. Very lemon with a small knob of butter in a wet stone bowl on the nose. in the mouth it's tangy, juicy, with a slight spritz that lends burr to the slatey mid palate. Medium length but lovely savoury texture. Yum.

2017 Marcel Lapierre Morgon France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Morgon
Initially the nose is quite gamey and meaty but with time this blows off to show some stalks sour black fruit and peppery spice. More of the same on the palate. Slight alcohol warmth on the finish. Hmm.

2014 Château Peymartin France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
Decanted for about 45 minutes. Black currant, cream, vanilla, pencil shavings and, oddly for me, a touch of oyster shell. On the palate it's got spiced rich, earthy black fruit with drying flour textured tannins. Still very young but played nicely with Bavette

N.V. Sánchez Romate Hnos. Jerez-Xérès-Sherry Cardenal Cisneros Spain, Andalucía, Jerez-Xérès-Sherry
Oof, rich, dense, leather, liquorice, saovury and spiced, touches of salted caramel, raisins and molasses. Crazy nose. Lusciously sweet, raisins, salted caramel and more raisins, alcohol heat and it's completely over the top but joyous with raisins so pretty much a standard PX.

nom nom nom nom...the sherry was probably a bridge too far...
