Floral, musk, marshmallow, red liquorice and lemon. Great mix of ripe, pure fruit and BdB minerality. Delicious, with texture and very good layered complexity. Great flow and persistence. Awesome.

Vanilla and gingerbread, lemon and smoke on the nose. Great mouthfeel, creamy with great acid drive. Moderate power and depth, it's already drinking well but of course more time will serve it finely.

Disgorged 26 Jan 2010. Rosewater and lychee, honey, ginger and mint. Savoury palate with med length and depth. Still shows freshness over the earthy, honeyed fruit. Very nice, time to drink for this disgorgement though.

Toast, wax, lemon peel and apple. In great condition, acid has rounded out at the edges, good length and flavour. Drinking well now and over the next 5 years.

Floral, mandarin, lime and orange on the nose. Decent fruit still showing with medium depth and length. Drinking well now - I don't think it will head for further heights.

Honey, lemon, white florals, orange peel and smoke. Rich and flavourful, feels amplified in power on the palate. Very good length and depth. Thankfully in fantastic condition.

Mineral, spice, orange and apples. Palate is superlative, packed with explosive power and flavour. Thrilling intensity and length. Brilliant wine.

Wild florals, apricot, smoke, mango and peaches. Cuts through the fruit presence on the palate with ease - lovely minerality and acid. Good texture here as well. Really like the profile and cut.

Cherry and kirsch, blackcurrant and blueberry on the nose. Medium depth and fruit weight on the palate, nice pure flavours. Composed and confident. Will show more with time.

Camphor, toast, earth, cherry and some kerosene along with fennel. Good definition on the palate, savoury along with the earthy fruit. Good style and drinking near or just after its peak.

Plum, graphite, red currant, ash - good aromatics and fragrance. Approachable even with the strong tannic firmness. Persistent with ultra classy fruit. Great to check in on this, but more time needed.

Blind. Crimson coloured. Roses, cranberry, cherry and blackcurrant. Sweet fruit, this is ripe and delicious. Finds beautiful balance with great structure in behind. Powerful, young but really super stuff.

Blind. 1a. Pepper, citrus, chocolate, blackberry - plenty of lift and appeal. Has style and surprising finesse on the palate, lots of sweet fruit but fantastic length and layers of flavour. Still very young but quite thrilling - has really come along nicely in the 10 years since I last tried it.

Blind. Orange, tobacco, blackberry and smoke - lifts out of the glass amazingly with air, showing five spice and swirling florals. Powerful palate, expansive and builds over the length. Red and black fruits melded together. This is a wow wine, powerful but also beguiling.

Blind. Fragrant - cedar, charcoal, liquorice, roses and raspberry. Sweet palate with strong fruit presence and some alcohol roundness at the edges. Medium length, this feels in a good spot for drinking.

Disgorged May 2017. Crown sealed. Cherry, blueberry and cranberry. Raspberry liqueur on the palate, red fruit flavours. Fresh, clean and medium length.

Charcoal, celery, christmas cake and herbal notes. Palate is holding up well, there is sweetness to go with the herbal savoury notes and keeps up some power into the finish where a final tweak leads to a touch of sourness. Pretty interesting to try.

Half bottle. Cherry, redcurrant, blackcurrant and tar. High intensity on the palate but maintains balance beautifully. Stretches out across the long length. Layered and flavourful, a treat.

Olive, rancio, nutty, smoke, sultana and wood. Fantastic balance on the palate, there is a deep savoury element that blends well into the intense sweetness. Viscous and fantastically layered, this is a lovely wine.

Mouldy/musty unfortunately, didn't seem to blow off so likely corked.

Orange marmalade, ginger, lime, apricot and wax. Crystalline on the palate with super purity and clarity of fruit flavour, incredible depth and energy. Mind-bending stuff.

Toffee, caramel, lime and apricot. Depth, sweet but also textured and driven, fantastic weight to this without feeling heavy. A brilliant end to the evening and well ahead of a bottle 12 years ago that was already peaking.

Toast, melon, apple and some earth. Holding up well on the palate, medium length and nice sweetness remaining. Only downside is a touch of bitterness on the finish which probably shows this bottle being a touch past peak - still nice to drink though.

Smoky, orange, spice and floral notes. Fairly lithe on the palate with some spice and plenty of acidity. Nice length and energy. Not as interesting as a previous bottle 6 months back but still good.
