White - Sparkling
2004 Ruinart Champagne Dom Ruinart Blanc de Blancs France, Champagne
92 points
Small glass, brief note. Ripe apple throughout with wonderful precision, showing good weight and length.
White
2016 Paul Pernot et ses Fils Puligny-Montrachet France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet
88 points
Small glass, brief note. Floral and very ripe with good density for its level. Good now.
White - Sparkling
2002 Delamotte Champagne Blanc de Blancs Millésimé France, Champagne
91 points
Small glass, brief note. Green and yellow apple with mineral textures and good weight.
White - Sparkling
2014 Jérôme Prévost Champagne La Closerie Extra Brut Les Beguines France, Champagne
Small glass, brief note. Very extreme style for me - bone dry and so austere. Offset by lots of power and density and bold fruit. But not my preferred style.
White
2010 Kistler Chardonnay Kistler Vineyard USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Valley
Small glass, brief note. Still bright enough, showing lots of richness, but wish more textural elegance.
White
2012 Domaine / Maison Vincent Girardin Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Combettes France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
88 points
Small glass, brief note. Good richness, still bright enough but a bit more okay than I’d prefer. Certainly tasty, but slightly lacking dimension.
White
2013 Domaine Amiot Guy et Fils Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Macherelles France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
91 points
Small glass, brief note. Intriguing combination of rich, savory, and sweet hints (botrytis?) with impressive concentration. Very good now.
White
2007 Kistler Chardonnay Kistler Vineyard USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Valley
flawed
Well past its peak.
White
2010 Garnier et Fils Chablis 1er Cru Mont de Milieu France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru
87 points
Good nose shows floral, apple and earth. Palate a bit more earth. Better a year or three ago.
White
2014 Patrick Piuze Chablis 1er Cru Butteaux France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru
90 points
Apple and lemon with so much precision and oyster shell brightness and crunchiness. Very long finish. Better today vs one year ago, and certainly further upside from here.
White
2017 Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard Chassagne-Montrachet France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet
88 points
Small glass, brief note. Apple and pear, forward and very tasty, certainly forward. Good+ now.
Red
2011 Quintessa USA, California, Napa Valley, Rutherford
89 points
Small glass, brief note. Seems so ripe aromatically, but leaner on palate, coming across as almost brittle. Good now.
Red
2013 Domaine Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Goulots Vieille Vigne France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
90 points
Somewhat surprising, certainly intriguing. All red fruit with medium+ weight, but such impeccable balance and harmony, finishing with a minerally, spicy ( allspice?) character than I really enjoyed.
Red
2007 Bruno Giacosa Barbaresco Santo Stefano Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barbaresco
93 points
Small glass, brief note. Classically floral and spice with an exciting combination of sweet, savory and dried cherry with a sneaky long finish.

White
2004 Sine Qua Non The Rejuvenators USA, California
Small glass, brief note. Mostly mature, still very rich and tropical. Nothing shy here.
White
2011 Paul Lato Chardonnay Belle de jour Hilliard Bruce Vineyard USA, California, Central Coast, Sta. Rita Hills
90 points
Lemon, lemon curd, candied lemon zest with an exciting mineral sense so rare in Cali Chardonnay, and an engaging brightness for its age. Holding up so well, but prob even better a few years ago.
Red
2013 Rhys Pinot Noir Horseshoe Vineyard USA, California, Santa Cruz Mountains
Small glass, brief note. From magnum. Black and red cherry aromas with enticing spice. Similarly rich start, then a more firm, abrupt finish that seems almost bitter. Needs more time? Didn’t live up to my (admittedly high) Rhys expectations.

Red
2009 A.P. Vin Pinot Noir Rosella's Vineyard USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Lucia Highlands
Small glass, brief note. Still nicely fresh, but slightly sweeter than I’d prefer for Pinot Noir.
Red
2005 Bouchard Père et Fils Volnay 1er Cru Caillerets Ancienne Cuvée Carnot France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Volnay 1er Cru
Small glass, brief note. Served double blind, clearly Burgundy, but I thought Côte de Nuits. So much here, but still firm and just grudgingly accessible. Long and powerful.
Red
2012 Seaver Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon GTS USA, California, Napa Valley, Diamond Mountain
90 points
Small glass, brief note. Dense black cherry and plum with good weight. Finishes slightly warm. Thank you, Tom Terrific.

2005 Tua Rita Redigaffi Toscana IGT Italy, Tuscany, Toscana IGT
90 points
Small glass, brief note. Lots of black fruit and almost as much earth. Still firm on finish.
Red
2017 Domaine Tempier Bandol La Migoua France, Provence, Bandol
Small glass, brief note. Very reductive start. Lots here, just in the background for now.
