Introduction

What a great Fall day to sit out on the deck and savor some good wine.

Flight 1 (2 notes)

Rosé - Sparkling
N.V. Camille Savès Champagne Grand Cru Brut Rosé France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru
92 points
Medium Copper River Salmon color. Drank two glasses over an hour. Very consistent with my recent note. on 7/29/20. Chalk, yeast, red berries, bright on the nose. The palate is deep and deeply chalky and spicy, very yeasty with somewhat sour red berries and red currants and apple peel.

White - Sparkling
2006 Henriot Champagne Brut Millésimé France, Champagne
93 points
Light gold color. Drank 2 glasses over 2 hours plus. The nose is yeasty and filled with fresh dough, pear, and with gradually building toast, and stone minerality. The palate is creamy, toasted, yeast, pear and lemon, apple peel, tart apple, roasted nuts. This was even better several hours later. Loved it again. 92+ to 93pts.

White
2015 Leeuwin Estate Chardonnay Art Series Australia, Western Australia, South West Australia, Margaret River
92 points
Pale green gold color. The nose has cedarbox, oak, lemon, patisserie, fint, and red apple. The palate shows lemon, peach, oak, tart lemon, young, flint. Still rather young and needs to shed some oak still. Give it at least a year and maybe two.

Flight 3 (1 note)

Red
1996 Robert Mondavi Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve USA, California, Napa Valley
94 points
Very dark red color with no bricking. PNP, drank 2 glasses over 3 hours plus. Great nose with leather, earth, funk, red fruit, garrigue-like herbs; evolving to show roasted game, forest floor, then cassis and dark berries. This has a satiny texture, full bodied, lifted, cassis, plum, dried wood, leather, fine grained tannins, nice and long on the finish.

2004 Glaetzer Godolphin Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Barossa Valley

Verey dark red/purple color. Slow O'd for 3 hours. Fairly deep fruited, balckberry, dark berries, high toned graphite, slightly perfumed with a little violet, and a hint of menthol. The palate is layered, glycercin, deep dark fruits, earthy, minerals and a peppery finish. 92+pts.
