Peter-Allan Finlayson (Chief Winemaker)
Grant Baxter (Head of Sales and Marketing)

Rosé - Sparkling
2018 Gabrielskloof Madame Lucy South Africa, Cape South Coast, Walker Bay, Bot River
92 points
Pale lemon, fine beads, star bright. Lemon and hay aromas, as well as a whitish floral feel. Bright acids, creamy mousse, big sharp lemon flavours, and an almond feel, and then the lemons gain some ripeness and sweet creaminess towards the back, to a fairly long finish. Nice!
White
2018 Gabrielskloof Elodie South Africa, Coastal Region, Swartland
93 points
Pale lemon with a slight greenish tinge, and star bright. Aromas that seem stony and mineral, with some salad leaves and underripe melon. Acidic, and a good fruity intensity, of quince and apricot, as well as orange blossoms, and a smoky minerality towards the back. A very long fruited finish. Great wine!
Red
2017 Gabrielskloof Cabernet Franc Landscape Series South Africa, Cape South Coast, Walker Bay, Bot River
91 points
Medium ruby, with browning and slight fading edges. Mint and cassis aromas, with a bit of barn. Medium acids and tannins, but quite some alcohol burn, with cherry, blackberry, dark leafy flavours, and tar. Smokes at the back. Fair length

Flight 2 - Spioenkop (2 notes)

Koen Roose (Partner and Winemaker)

White
2018 Spioenkop Chenin Blanc Sarah Raal South Africa, Cape South Coast, Elgin
91 points
Pale straw, star bright. Aromas of peach, melon and grey stones. Acidic, intensely flavoured mainly of brine, salad leaves, and lemons. A clean, linear feel, then the finish has slight white smokes
Red
2018 Spioenkop Pinotage 1900 South Africa, Western Cape
91 points
Medium purplish ruby. Nose that has a dark floral sense, roses, and cassis. Light bodied and elegant, with fairly intense flavours of dark roses and blueberry, as well as plums, and a somewhat greenish leafy feel, and rubber smokes. A fairly good length
