Introduction

Four tasters in my garden on a special occasion.
I think this is the first time I enter a tasting note about the same bottle of wine twice.
The first note was made two days before this tasting. And while writing the notes for this tasting I drank the last bit from the bottle of Léoville Poyferré 2010.

Flight 1 (10 notes)

White
2012 Jobard-Morey Meursault 1er Cru Les Poruzots France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
92 points
Pronounced bouquet with beautifully dosed oak and ripe fruits. On the palate herbs and spices, some butter, beautifully fresh acidity and pleasant bitterness.
Red
1995 Château Pontet-Canet France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
In the bouquet truffle, forest floor and mushrooms. On the palate quite mature and in fact too old to be really pleasurable. No score.
Red
2005 Château Pontet-Canet France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
93 points
Dark berries and chocolate in the bouquet. On the palate vanilla and oak, ripe black berries and beautiful acidity. At first not extremely concentrated and less impressive than on previous occasions. A few days later I tried a small leftover which I kept in the cooler and it had opened up. So my guess is that this wine is in an intermediate stage now and will open up again in a few years from now. The first evening I scored the wine 93.

1995 Les Forts de Latour France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
94 points
Dark berries like blackberries and cassis in the bouquet. On the palate a firm amount of good acidity and slightly drying tannin. Graphite, cassis and blackberries, great length. Beautiful, complex and mature wine.
Red
1995 Château Ducru-Beaucaillou France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
96 points
Luxurious and complex bouquet with vanilla, black olives, cassis and other black berries. Same on the palate. Complex and in fact still youthful with beautiful acidity and still some round tannin as well as pleasant bitterness. Superb and fantastic wine which can probably easily last another decade. 96+

1995 Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
97 points
Enchanting bouquet. Complex and luxurious with black berry fruits and beautiful oak. Same on the palate, just fabulous with some chocolate and pleasant acidity. There is hardly tannin left. Just a bit to give the wine a beautifully soft bite. Ducru Beaucaillou was great with still a lot of power. This Comtesse has less power, but more finesse. What a beauty!

94 points
Powerful still somewhat lactic bouquet with vanilla, stable smells and some chocolate. On the palate a firm wine with some bell pepper, grippy tannin and a lot of acidity and complexity. Beautiful wine and imho a textbook Saint Estephe with still a lot of future. 93+

2010 Château Léoville Poyferré France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
96 points
Drank from this bottle on three occasions, so now I enter an extra tasting note to finish the starting note. Popped and poured. In the bouquet dark berries like cassis and cherries. Vanilla. On the palate the same impressions. Firm but good, juicy acidity and sticky tannin. Still quite locked and not really showing itself yet. Put the cork back on and the wine in the cooler. Two days later the wine still gave impressions of black berry fruits. Also some glue, luxurious oak and still a firm amount of acidity and a lot of sticky tannin. Now, a week after the starting note the wine is still powerful and hardly showing signs of decline. What a great and powerful wine. Will probably still be great to drink around 2050. For now I keep the score at 96, but when it all falls together it might score a few points higher.
