Initially a little bit closed but with time a broad and complex nose with lemon, orange, a touch of red berries, cantaloupe melon, straw and fresh bread. With additional time coffee, fudge and candied orange peel. On the palate fine mousse, at first a bit angular with some bitterness but gradually gaining balance and complexity. Similar impressions as for the nose. Good acidity, iron and chalk minerality, very good lenght. A clear step up from last bottle, probably ’cause we gave it more time and attention. Best young Comtes I’ve had and good upside as well. With luck, this could approach perfection in 8-10 years time.

This is a marvel of a wine. Exquisitely elegant, it is not about power or intensity, but balance, finesse and energy. It has that feeling of weightlessness, just floating on the palate like a creamy cloud of the lightest sweet lemon and flower petals. A hint of seashore and fresh oysters as well. Almost linear and devoid of complexity, almost like drinking scented mineral water at times, but oh so good! It is hard to describe the feeling as it is so fleeting, but it is one of ultimate luxury and silky freshness. Very long. If, at some point in the future, this adds some more depth without losing its current balance, it will be a good candidate for my first 100 point wine.

Powerhouse! Almost a caricature of an over the top, full throttle, no limits wine. Every dial is on 110%. Intense nose of very ripe fruit, chark, truffle, all-spice and pepper. Also lots of herbal, medicinal stuff. On the palate likewise exuberant fruit, spice and quite a lot of heat. Drinks like a dry port. One glass is enough, almost. Still, since everything is on max, in balance. Quite an impressive experience, but really, too much!

Still not showing much age. Might soften some with another decade or two, but I wouldn’t count on it.

The nose on this is to die for! Just a wonder of dark fruit, charcuteries, peppery spice, violets, lavender and a touch of olives. Also, strangely, banana! I could sniff this all night and die a happy man. On the palate sadly not living up to the lewd promise of the bouquet. A bit subdued, not giving much more than a sense of dark power. Everything in perfect balance though, with a silky mouthfeel, good acids and very fine, powder tannins. Good lenght but would have wished for more.

Give this another decade and I believe we’ll have magic!
