Introduction

Mixed bag, the Chablis was quite good as was the Mercurey. The two Bourgueils were excellent values, as was the one Barbera

Flight 1 (5 notes)

White
2020 Corte Gardoni Bianco di Custoza Mael Italy, Veneto, Bianco di Custoza
83 points
Simple sweet and innocuous with a slight bitter edge. Drinkable but ...
White
2020 Pascal Janvier Jasnières France, Loire Valley, Jasnières
88 points
Honeysuckle nose, mild (low) acidity, clean slight sweet, easy finish. Fairly classic, but for me not my favorite without more acidity. However it really works with Indian food.
White
2019 Domaine Nathalie et Gilles Fevre Chablis France, Burgundy, Chablis
91 points
A very complete Chablis, quite delightful and very ready to go.
White
2019 Wohlmuth Sauvignon Blanc Steinriegl Austria, Styria, Südsteiermark
87 points
A more classic wood fermented and aged style, very nice, with a lovely finish. Pricey but nice.

White
2019 Wohlmuth Riesling Dr. Wunsch Austria, Styria, Südsteiermark
88 points
The nose is quite vague, but this wine shines in the mouth. A very nice full bodied white wine but there is nothing about it that speaks of of Riesling to me. That said it would still be lovely with fall sausage meal.

Flight 2 (7 notes)

Red
2019 Corte Gardoni Bardolino Pradica Italy, Veneto, Bardolino
88 points
Light color, light to medium weight, ample character. Attractive

Red
2019 Corte Gardoni Corvina Becco Rosso Veronese IGT Italy, Veneto, Veronese IGT
83 points
So-so, somewhat course. Pass
Red
2018 Cantine Valpane Barbera del Monferrato Rosso Pietro Italy, Piedmont, Monferrato, Barbera del Monferrato
89 points
Minty attractive supple Barbera. Complex and well structured for the price.
Red
2019 Domaine de la Chanteleuserie Bourgueil Cuvée Alouettes France, Loire Valley, Touraine, Bourgueil
89 points
Fairly classic and continues a streak of nice CF's. Lovely

Red
2018 Domaine de la Chanteleuserie Bourgueil Cuvée Beauvais France, Loire Valley, Touraine, Bourgueil
91 points
Really attractive and full, need to do a side by side with the same vintage of Alouettes, but this is a lovely wine.
Red
2019 Mauro Molino Langhe Nebbiolo Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Langhe DOC
88 points
Nice texture and quite drinkable as fresh lighter red, but there were nicer values in this lineup.
Red
2019 Faiveley Mercurey Vieilles Vignes France, Burgundy, Côte Chalonnaise, Mercurey
91 points
Great bacon fat, sour cherry nose. Equally attractive in the mouth. Some aging potential and a price that is not cheap but within reason. Sold
