Introduction

A special memory shared with Ryan, Eric, Rob, and Andy.

Flight 1 (6 notes)

White - Sparkling
2018 Jérôme Prévost Champagne La Closerie & France, Champagne
94 points
Tasted in a flight of Prevost whites of 2019 Grand Cru, 2016 Beguines, and 2018 Ampersand.

Brought by Eric, sourced from Golden 8 Wines. Whoa, liked this 2018 Ampersand way more than I thought I would (being purchased fruit and all). Love the toastiness on the nose, which the other whites didn't have. Super approachable with balanced minerality and some tasty fruit. The toasty note and easy drinking did it for me.

2016 Jérôme Prévost Champagne La Closerie Extra Brut Les Beguines France, Champagne
93 points
Tasted in a flight of Prevost whites of 2019 Grand Cru, 2016 Beguines, and 2018 Ampersand.

2016 bottling. This is bursting with rich red apples, nuts, yeast, and a hint of hazelnut. This was significantly bolder and deeper than the 2018 Ampersand (which drank easier) and has far more potential. Should be fun to track!

Tasted in a flight of Prevost whites of 2019 Grand Cru, 2016 Beguines, and 2018 Ampersand.

2019 bottling, a Golden 8 Wines special. This was a dense, intense, and deep Champagne with far more potential than the Beguines and Ampersand. Started off really tight and opened up more with air with deep minerality, a hint of green, and white stone fruit. Awesome long-term potential here.

White
2017 Domaine Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
94 points
Brought by Rob. Couldn't stop smelling this wine. Loved the orchard fruit, buttered popcorn, crispy minerals, and wet slate on the nose. Added weight on the palate with a lasting finish. Great bottle. My favorite white Burg of the night.
White
2017 Anne Boisson Meursault Chevalières France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault
90 points
Brought by Baxter. Surprised at how light and simple this was, given the vintage and plot. Nice stone fruit and some chalkiness, everything coming through fairly quietly (though a Domaine Leflaive 1er Folatieres is a tough act to follow). Very happy to try this producer and specific bottling, nonetheless!
White
2019 Domaine Bachelet-Monnot Maranges 1er Cru La Fussière Blanc France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Maranges 1er Cru
92 points
Brought by Rob. This punches well above its price point. Nice stone and citrus fruit, clean minerals, and enough weight and acid for a really pleasant drink. Yum!

Flight 3 (2 notes)

Red
2012 Comm. G.B. Burlotto Barolo Monvigliero Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
95 points
Loved this Barolo, even though it's clear it's too early. Andy mentioned that it smelled like Rhone, and I completely agree with all the olives in the nose. The body is also extremely refined and delicate with bright red fruit, lovely acidity, and moderately gripping tannins. So damn good with tons of potential. Can't wait to taste this in time.

To me, the pinnacle of hazy IPA. Bursting with cream, sweet citrus, and clean hops. Damn delicious.
