Introduction

Grabbed three random Bordeaux to attack with the Coravin so I could have something to slurp whilst I gorged myself on a standing rib roast with roasted vegetables.

Flight 1 (3 notes)

Red
1995 Château Labégorce France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux
From Coravin. Red and blackcurrant, leather, Autumn leaves, wet earth, a little Asian five spice and a smidge of soy. Juicy, surprisingly freshly fruity, tannins are talc textured and last longer than the fruit on the finish though the tertiary notes of leather, slight mushroom and some subtle soy replace the fruit. It's not dried out though, rather nice.
Red
1995 Château d'Angludet France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux
From Coravin. Medium minus intensity aromas....with agitation starts to show slightly gamey, meaty notes, sweet spice, cedar, leather, black hued fruits - a little bramble and plum, forest floor. Juicy, tangy, the fruit is beginning to dry out very slightly , tannins are persistent, moderately drying, all travel long with a little beetroot note on the the finish. Okay.
Red
2004 Château Gruaud Larose France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
From Coravin. Cream, butter, polished oak, blackberry and blackcurrant tending to Cassis with a little herbaceous underpin and plenty of sweet spice, a touch of red liquorice with time. Medium plus intensity acidity, juicy and slightly jubey black fruits, tannins are quite floury textured and tug at the mid palate...there is a little green note her as well. Compared to the 95's there is a bit more 'stuffing' and concentration. Pretty good and in a nice spot.

Closing

Very pleasant indeed and lots to like all round!
