2016 Laherte Frères Champagne Extra Brut Les Empreintes France, Champagne
Disgorged December 2021. For this cuvee, the Pinot is grown in limestone soils that are about 80cm down below the topsoil, and the Chardonnay is grown on clay. No chalk imprint in this wine. 2 grams of dosage, 50/50 Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Quick taste of the wine....good depth with a brassy note. Plenty of freshness here.

N.V. Laherte Frères Petit Meslier Champagne Extra Brut France, Champagne
Disgorged December 2021. A blend of both 2017 and 2018 with just a couple grams of dosage. Grown in Chavot not far from the winery from a massale selection of younger vines. Grapefruit, pineapple along with again a freshness and plenty of acidity to keep it bright. What also stands out to me is the roundness of the wine. I am beginning to really take the producers who are forging ahead with this grape and making 100% versions of it. Excellent stuff.

N.V. Laherte Frères Champagne Les 7 Extra Brut France, Champagne
Disgorged November 2021, from the solera that was started in 2005, and now includes 2018 which is the primary base of this disgorgement. This comes from just a half hectare in Chavot, planted in 2003 by Aurelien and his father, and it's still plowed by horse (was plowed the day before my visit). Like with the Empreintes Pinot Noir, this is grown in limestone that is about 80cm deep. Round and fresh yet with the refreshing minerality and light impression of lemon peel, almond and a bit of rusticity. This bottle was fresh and unique, reflective of the assemblage. And for what it's worth for the US drinkers, I made a comment last time I wrote this wine up that I paid $110 for it. I then found the wine for around $85 and no tax in Florida, so there is good pricing on these and of course the base changes every year so it's a wine I a going to keep pursuing as it evolves and transforms with the changing solera.

2018 Laherte Frères Champagne Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut Les Grandes Crayères France, Champagne
Had to add to the database so this is an early look at the wine. Disgorged December 2021. 100% Chardonnay grown on chalk with a few grams of dosage. The vintage shows here, the sun really coming through it. The chalk helps add freshness to lift the more fruit-centric aspect of the wine. Lemon, yellow apple, grapefruit with a richer expression but enough spine to balance it out.

Rosé - Sparkling
2018 Laherte Frères Champagne Rosé de Saignée Extra Brut Les Beaudiers France, Champagne
Disgorged November 2021. Mostly Meunier but also about 5% of Fromenteau. Like the 2018 Les Crayeres showed me, the sunny aspect of the vintage comes through here, too. Pink salmon color. Juicy, with cherry, watermelon, blood orange and finishing with same juicy quality, along with a spiciness. I would say this is going to be a very good vintage for Beaudiers.
