Flight 1 (12 notes)

White - Sparkling
2002 Recaredo Cava Turo d'en Mota Spain, Cava

Blind. Toasty, lemon, lillies and a touch of herb and light ox notes. Rich and nutty flavours, medium bodied, mild acid but I like the complexity to it. Very nice. D/g 27/08/12.
White - Sparkling
2014 Pierre Péters Champagne Grand Cru Cuvée Speciale Blanc de Blancs Les Chetillons France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru
92 points
Lemon, vanilla, white florals on the nose. Tangy acid and citrus kick, with some herbs through the mid palate. Precise with good flow and control. Happy with this.

D/g 9 Nov 2020, 2015 base. Strawberries, earth, smoky wood and cherry. Delightful palate, fresh and floral with plenty of energy and spark. Lovely length. Top stuff.

White
2018 Bernard Faurie Hermitage Blanc France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Hermitage
92 points
White florals, lime and almond with light oak on the nose. Palate has a surprising subtlety to it with a clean and mineral driven palate. Good texture and length with a little bitter twist on the finish that adds rather than detracts.
White
2018 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Baudines France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
92 points
Smoky, ripe orange, plum, apple and wax. Open and attractive palate profile, fruit is punchy and delicious. Good stuff!
White
2018 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chenevottes France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru

Tighter than the 18 Baudines - more restraint with flint, ozone and orange peel. Has depth and drive, just needs more time.

2008 Tissot (Bénédicte et Stéphane / André et Mireille) Savagnin Arbois France, Jura, Arbois

Caramel and mandarin with orange and nutty complexity. Tangy palate with plenty of bite and acidity. Drink now for this one.
Red
2013 Domaine Méo-Camuzet Corton-Perrières France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton Grand Cru
92 points
Cherry and redcurrant, rosemary and slate. Fine tannin, suave and controlled red fruits. I've found Meo-Camuzet a bit hit or miss but this was a hit.
Red
1996 Domaine Ghislaine Barthod Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Cras France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
90 points
Charcoal, coffee, meat and red cherries. Has texture and good savoury flavour. Pulls back a bit with time in the glass. Probably not living up to expectations but still a good glass of wine.

Corked.
Red
2016 Fattoria Petrolo Galatrona Italy, Tuscany, Val d'Arno di Sopra

Blackcurrant, olives, cherry and meaty notes. Plenty of structure here, with the red and black fruit quite punchy but kept in control with the tannin and acid. Feels like a long life ahead.

White - Off-dry
2012 Fritz Haag Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese Goldkapsel Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer
93 points
Tropical nose with orange, pineapple, mango along with musk, slate and smoke. Acid sweeps through amplifying the fruit and keeps it fresh along the rich, ripe fruit profile. Long and delicious.
