Introduction
A great night, and fitting third session for the inaugural Paulee de Hersh.
Flight 1 - Flight 1 (2 notes)
White - Sparkling
1982 Bollinger Champagne R.D. Extra Brut
Great way to start the evening. Yeasty and doughy, and very experssive nose. Everyone liked it.
White - Sparkling
1985 Krug Champagne Vintage Brut
From mag. Great stuff. Fresh and lively, much less mature than 750's I've had in the past year. Drnik bottles, hold those mags.
Flight 2 - Flight 2 (4 notes)
White
2002 Domaine des Comtes Lafon Meursault 1er Cru Gouttes d'Or
Serous acidity. My note is a little vague - good, enjoyable.
White
1997 Bouchard Père et Fils Montrachet
Soft, less sophisticated, but very pleasurable. An easy drink.
White
1992 Domaine Ramonet Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Caillerets
Great nose. Ramonet mint. Chet liked its sophistication.
Flight 3 - Flight 3 (4 notes)
Flight 4 - Flight 4 (4 notes)
Red
2002 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Romanée St. Vivant
This is a great wine, that drinks surprisingly well for its age. This will be a real star, so don't drink these too early.
Red
1990 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Romanée St. Vivant
Tighter than expected. Most of the group thought it great, but for me the unexpected tightness and a slightly astringent back end kept it out of "great". Versus the 85, I thought it no contest (ie the 85 blew it out of the water), but there were a number of folks who didn't agree with that.

1985 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Romanée St. Vivant
Awesome nose, great on the palate. In a great place just now. Fantastic, and for me easily the WOTF. Chet said: "A stud". Well said.
Red
1988 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti La Tâche
I thought this way too tight and too young (and I'm willing to drink and enjoy burgs young). I love La Tache, but this was surprisingly an underperformer versus my expectations. Others thought I was nuts (nothing new there), and loved it. Will look forward to revisiting another bottle in five years.
Flight 5 - Flight 5 (4 notes)
A killer flight, and flight of the weekend for me.
Red
1991 Emmanuel Rouget Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Cros Parantoux
Seriously good juice. Elegant. Excellent. Mmm.
Red
1988 Joseph Drouhin Grands-Echezeaux
Good, not great. In tough competition with this flight tonight.
Red
1988 Maison Albert Bichot Grands-Echezeaux Domaine du Clos Frantin
Lovely fruit. Well liked by the crowd.

1991 Emmanuel Rouget Echezeaux
For me, the nose of the night. A gorgeous wine, exquisite. My WOTF, but not consensus. I loved this wine.
Flight 6 - Flight 6 (4 notes)
Also a great flight, a burgundy lesson in 30 minutes.
Red
1985 Domaine Ponsot Clos de la Roche Vieilles Vignes
Either slightly corked (we couldn't agree) or just a tough bottle. Jim said it was just the racy edge of Ponsot's wine producing that either works or doesn't. Too bad, as this wine can be off the charts good.
Red
1964 Bouchard Aîné & Fils Romanée St. Vivant
Youthful and powerful. A chocolate note. Great nose. But a very slight off note for me (again, others thought I was nuts on that). Seemed to have some Hermitage in it?? WOTF for many, not for me.
Flight 7 - Flight 7 (1 note)
With foie gras. OTT.
