TNs: Sunday Dinner ('04 Two Hands, '03 Neyers)

Introduction

I was in a new releases mood tonight, so I popped these two for dinner. I will probably pick up some more of the Neyers (though it is a bit pricey at $36), I'll likely pass on the Two Hands.

Flight 1 (2 notes)

White
2003 Neyers Chardonnay Thieriot Vineyard Sonoma Coast USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast
Opened while I was cooking dinner. Pretty nice wine. Citrus/ tropical fruit aromas backed by a bit of spice. These flavors follow through on the palate along with a bit of minerality. Medium bodied and a bit oily, but brought alive by a zesty acidity. I enjoy this quite a bit and will be interested to see how it develops over the next 3-5 years.
Red
2004 Two Hands Grenache Yesterday's Hero Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Barossa Valley
Saw this at the local shop, and hadn't seen this Two Hands label before, so I figured I'd give it a try. Bright ruby red and medium bodied. Out of the bottle, the nose is dominated an interesting cinnamon spice smell like apple cobbler. On the palate, it is rather simple and one dimensional, but hides its 15% alcohol well. With time in the decanter the nose alternates between the cinnamon spice and a mustier locker room odor. Ok, but not my favorite. Will revisit the rest of the bottle over the next few days.
