Introduction

There were four of us at dinner and Brett cooked us up a special (and super) menu. there was a good crowd in the dining room and after a quick tour of the kitchen we sat down for a great meal

Flight 1 (1 note)

Amouse of poached quail egg in a mushroom foam (i think) with a single asparagus. great mouthful

Dinner @ The Ledbury- light yellow, small bubbles. crisp and clean in the mouth, easy drinking champers. nice way to start

Flight 2 (1 note)

Signature dish of rabbit lasagna with morels- this is just a great dish, light earthy, deep flavors

Dinner @ The Ledbury- Lemon yellow clean color, this bottle had been opened for approx one hour and poured from decanter, it smelled of citrus/lemon with a touch of flowers. beautiful nose, in the mouth it was rich and youthful. very clean and long and very enjoyable. med high acidity, great balance and very long. this wine ROCKS

Flight 3 (2 notes)

Sweetbreads cooked on a licorice steak on top of a onion puree with a crisp of thin sliced potato on the side - i asked brett to make sweetbreads and boy did he ever

Red

Dinner @ The Ledbury - clean , light purple color. decanted 3 hours before dinner. deep dark fruit nose, with a touch of earthiness. youthful and vibrant in the mouth. tastes of cherries and dark fruit. pleasant mineral taste. this wine was very together, and has a long life ahead of it

Dinner @ The Ledbury - put this one out there with a bit of trepidation as so many notes have said this needs more time. decanted 4 hours before dinner. crimson color, sweet spice and dark fruits on the nose. very clean. in the mouth it was quite lively, big and bold but not overbearing, still showing dark fruits and a touch of sweetness. the tannins were very silky. i can see this bottle being better 5+ years from now but i think with enough time in the decanter it can give pleasure

Flight 4 (1 note)

roe deer chops cooked on hay ( i can temember what else was on the plate) but these were great smokey gamey chops. yum yum

Dinner @ The Ledbury - Big heavy cali bottle, decanted approx 6 hours before drinking. dark dark color, almost black. Dark fruits and sweetness on the nose. quite thick in the mouth, coats the tongue. big wine but not in a jammy knock you over kinda of way, more in well balanced Pomerol kind of way. i thought it was an interesting wine and it can stand up to any food. Scholiums continue to make me scratch my head but bottle was empty by end of the course
