Flight 1 (5 notes)

Red
1997 Pine Ridge Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford USA, California, Napa Valley, Rutherford
Still fruit forward in spite of the age with tart black cherry and very subdued toasted oak. Dusty, dry mouth feel with tannins mellowed but still prominent leading to a nice long finish.
Red
1999 Pine Ridge Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford USA, California, Napa Valley, Rutherford
88 points
Toasted oak dominates. Smooth and mellow but fairly one dimensional at this point in its evolution with modest finish.
Red
2002 Benziger Family Winery Tribute USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Mountain
90 points
Jammy plum and dark berry with toasted oak overtones and a moderate length finish of earthy tannins.
Red
N.V. Barboursville Vineyards Octagon 4th Edition USA, Virginia, Central Virginia, Monticello
92 points
Violets on the nose – tart plum, roses and a hint of licorice flavor with mellow tannins and a medium finish – a superb showing for a 10 year old new world Bordeaux blend. Never guess this was a Virginia wine.
