Checking back in on this one after nearly 11 years. The aromas and flavors are consistent with my note from March 2009. Drinking very well right now, with still a bit of youthfulness.

Dark purple in color, with no indication of bricking. The Hendy trademark aromas of mint, eucalyptus, and sweet fruit are present. On the palate, deep cherry, violet, cocoa, and new leather notes show. The tannins are only slightly softening at 15 years on, so there is plenty of life ahead. Drinking very well right now. Medium-long finish.

Medium-full golden color. All the lime zest, saline, herb, and light honey markers are still there, but are now a bit more rounded with some graceful age. My last bottle from a half case over the last 11 years, and all of them were great.

Light bricking-red in color. Aromas of red and blue fruits, with a hint of allspice. The palate shows cherry, strawberry, citrus, and black tea, with a crisp medium-long finish. A very nice wine, though the fruit might be starting to fade. Drink remaining stocks.

Dark purple in color, with long legs on the glass. Pleasing aromas of red and blue fruit compote, with a light green pepper note. The palate shows a compelling combination of blackberry, raspberry, and blueberry layered on top of orange peel and mineral flavors, all well-centered with a beautiful weight and texture. This starts to show its best after about four hours in the decanter.

Dark purple in color, with aromas of blueberry, black cherry, forest fire, and sweet raw meat. The palate has characteristics of brambly dark berries, white pepper, pipe tobacco, iodine, and bacon fat. Considerably complex, and still drinking fairly young. The flavors continue to fill in through the long finish. Even better with three hours of air.

Medium red in color, with only the slightest bricking. There are aromas of sweet red fruits with the palate showing rich flavors of strawberries and red cherries, orange peel, and a hint of tea. My last of seven bottles drunk over thirteen years, which have all been consistently good. It’s a shame 2005 was the last vintage of Olivet Lane from WesMar.

Rose’-like pink in color, with shy strawberry and cranberry aromas. Light in texture, with a simple but appealing beam of tart strawberry and watermelon flavors showing mid-palate, framed by mineral notes and soft tannins. Finishes clean. Perhaps made from grapes picked to be in the Ultramarine sparkling wines.

Slightly-bricking purple in color, with a nose of dusty raspberry and blackberry fruit. The palate shows black cherry, plum, and root beer notes, with hints of lavender and vanilla, having a medium-long finish. Paired beautifully with Easter dinner; this still has plenty of life remaining.

Though I remain a buyer of Sea Smoke wines, I find that I am slightly preferring the Kris Curran vintages over time.

Light to medium red in color, with aromas of red fruits, rose petal, and cedar. In the mouth, dried cherry, smoky game, and cedar flavors are seamless yet distinct, pleasing, and not weighty. Tannins build on the medium-long finish. This wine is fun and serious at the same time, and certainly pleasing to drink.

Still showing plenty of energy, this last bottle is the best of the four that I had. It has been fun to follow this wine over the last 11 years.

Decanted two hours. There are aromas of plum, tar, and a spiced apple note, which seems out of place, but is not unpleasant. On the palate, fresh earth, blackberry, and black and red licorice flavors show. Full-bodied and still tight even after decanting, yet ending with a measure of restraint.

At hour four, the apple note has dissipated, and mocha flavors now present on the palate as this continues to evolve. Still drinking very young, but this wine will reward if you have the patience.
