A tasty middle aged wine. Amazing value from Casemates. No rush to drink, no need to wait either.

Very tasty. Very interesting with cumin-laced samosas. Bready, earthy, and with just enough dosage. Nicely crisp on the palate as well.

Fruity, restrained, earthy, and nicely acidic. This is a nice and fairly gutsy wine. Evolved over an evening being open. Half recorked for night 2.
Day 2 was similar.

Earthy and still very lively. I don't think I'd have guessed this wine was 21 years old. Lasted quite nicely over a few hours and didn't change much. Very impressive.

Another delicious bottle. Pretty nose of cherries and flowers. Light to medium body. Balanced acidity. Didn't get the pepper hint I did last time around, though.

Interesting - simultaneously light yet deep. Dark fruits, herbs and sticks. Quite mineral as others have noted.
Similar on day 2 - the fruit is a little more clear. Overall this has a similar feel (with different characteristics) to a high end Beaujolais, which is rather refreshing coming from California.

Bright and spicy cherry and raspberry. Nice acidity and little bits of tannin. Fruit is still pretty sappy, so maybe give it a couple years before the next bottle.

Kind of pruned, but nice acidity and still a bit of tannin.

A little heavy on the juicy fruit, but this still retains a nice dose of earthy notes to keep it relatively balanced. Not my favourite, but a solid bigger California style Pinot that drinks properly like Pinot.

Alternately light and floral with hot and spicy. A pretty good bottle overall. Certainly worth the $30 to try a 20 year old version of this.

On opening this is immediately a powerful and amazingly well aged wine. Full of savoury character, dark fruit, dust, and that "aged wine" flavour that comes out at 20+ years minimum. Excellent acidity. Continued to open up well through the night. Maybe a hint of starting to fade toward the end, but this was solid throughout.

Definitely off-dry, spätlese or richer kabinett in style. Not as intense and full as I hoped or expected, but very German in its lightness. Needs to be a little warmer than fridge temperature.
Palate has the oiliness and petrol of a good Riesling, and the aromas are quite floral alongside the petrol. Very nice.

Excellent cool climate Syrah. Peppery, meaty, dark red fruit, nice acidity and structure. Plenty of tannin for a 10 year old wine. Excellent stuff.

Initial impressions: damn this is good. Earthy spices, dark fruit, excellent texture and acidity, and quite dense. Very savoury.
This bottle continued on that delicious path and remained so for a couple hours until it vanished.

This is in an excellent place. Cherry cola with a strong earthy element and lots of spice to round it out. Minerality and acidity are strong players.

Solid aged wine, which opened up nicely over an hour and then slowly declined over the next couple. Good but not screaming value at $33.

Getting better still. Less in the way of obvious oak, but still has lots of structure and ot's getting more earthy and interesting.

Nice Zin. This is a middle of the road style - certainly elegant and restrained but with enough exuberance to remind you it's a Sonoma Zin. Like others I'd expect this to age nicely at least another 3+ years, probably significantly longer.

Delicious, and seems like it's only half of the actual age. Just starting to develop some additional complexity and seems to be built for additional age.

A surprisingly brickish colour had me worried initially, but this was a nice middle aged Kendric, ready to go with earthy aromas and flavours alongside a cherry core.

Day 1 this was pretty purple and primary. Not a lot of complexity, but a lot of yum.
Day 2 this firmed up somewhat and picked up northern Rhone Syrah goodness: cracked pepper, some meatiness, and more varied fruit.

Lots of minerality, starting to really show its age. Wine pours a slightly faded brick. Aromas are earthy and funky primarily, but with a core of darker red fruit and cherries with baking spices. Palate is more of the same, with a long finish that brings in some cracked pepper and other herbs to the mix. Solid performance.

Initial impressions: this is a beautiful PS. It's got the blackberry and floral notes that this variety can do at its best, along with a very nicely balanced acidity and just a bit of tannin, at least shortly after opening the bottle.

Day 2 this is just as elegant and refined. A fantastic wine.
