Decanted for two hours. Almost sweet is the only knock on this wine and what keeps it from nearing perfection. Rich red and dark fruit, garrigue and soft tannins.

Cerise is French for Cherry and that is the predominant aroma and taste. But there is much more. The inviting nosed reached across the table when the cork was pulled. Screams Cali Pinot.

Maybe 93? Almost exploded with flavor. Dense ruby-purple loaded with kirsch, lavender and perhaps licorice. 100% Grenache.

Needs an hour in decanter. Even then, the wine is pleasant and balanced but lacks depth and complexity.

Awful upon opening. Continued to improve, but not ready for consumption at bedtime. Over the hill on day two. Could tell that it could have have been terrific.

Not excessive in any way. Pretty much just right. Bubbles, mouth feel, dosage, fruit all right on the money. Not a lot af toast or brioche.

Opened, but not decanted for about 90 minutes. Color dark but bright. Nose floral and inviting. Many layers of diverse flavors, all pleasant. Tannins soft and fine. Acidity well balanced. A great year for the top CdP’s. This included.

Prime time. I’m a lover of 05 St Emilion and this does not disappoint. Elegance and balance. Dark color, lively and inviting floral nose. Finish consistent with the rich taste.

Clean crisp and mineral. Light in color but full bodied for an unoaked white. Citrus and white flowers. From very old vines on volcanic soil.

Fits my Champagne profile well enough that I can classify it with the best of the big houses. Crisp and bright. Lively, yet soft. Dosage and fruit right in my wheelhouse.

Decanted for 3 hours. Followed an ‘06 Egly-Ouriet, a ‘10 Dageneau Silex, and a ‘12 Canon LaGaffelierre. Fab match with Doris Metropolitan’s superb steaks. Close to a perfect CdP. Rich and velvety. Great depth, complexity, and ripe, dark fruit. Beef, leather, cedar, cocoa and so much more.

Opened, but not decanted for over an hour. Dark but bright in color. Floral nose. Rich, soft, and mouth filling. Red and dark fruit, cocoa, coffee, leather and so much more. Definitely a New World, fruit driven taste, and very, very well done. Finished both long and big.

Dessert wine after a tasting event of 2002 Champagnes. Enjoyed by all. A bit of caramel with the honey. Not too sweet or cloying. I'll buy again.

Decanted for an hour and could have used three or four. Continue to open in the glass. A great match for duck confit. Plenty of spices, garrigue and that Pegau barnyard. Great stuff.

Light in color and body. Cherries first and other red fruit. Very soft tannins and acid, so easy drinking. Great restaurant wine as it pair well with most foods.

Dark and opaque. 84/16 Syrah and Petite Syrah. It’s big and will stain your teeth. But totally under control. Tannins fully softened. Great stuff. This bottle was signed by Doug Schafer

Decanted for two hours. Enjoyed with roast duck at Piccolo Sogno, Chicago. Great match. This is a big but not over-the-top wine. Full and rich with layer upon layer of flavors. I enjoyed just holding it in my mouth to accentuate the big finish. Pepper and vanilla characteristics of Syrah, but so much more.

Opened but not decanted four hours before serving. Excellent and got even better in the glass and continued to blossom until the two of us finished the bottle. All you could ask for in a CdP, or, in fact, any wine. Nose (and palate) developed from about zero to fill the room!

Quite tame for Petite Sirah. Teeth-staining dark and quite intense. but mellow too. Liked it with our spicy Spaghetti meat sauce. Acid cut thru well.

So nice to taste something new and different and this filled the bill. Rhône blend with a generous dose of Viognier for bright, floral fruit. At 20 bucks this is a very good value IMO

Tannins and acid are gone. Fruit barely there. Age has made this blah. Too bad.

From Magnum. Decanted for two hours. Opened considerable in that time, and continued through the meal. Rather light in color for a CdP, and perhaps "thinner" than most too, although not a thin wine itself. Roses and garrigue on the nose continue in the mouth with red berries and dark fruit. 92-93/100

This is the Pirouette Solo Dancer; production of only 74 cases. And damn! It is good! Huge, full-bodied, mouthfilling wine. 90%Cab and10% Petite Verdot. The Petite Verdot creates a ripeness and richness that it can only do in areas with a long growing season as it is the last grape to ripen. A long life ahead should bring real greatness.

Not Cali, but close to Burg. Strawberry and raspberry; lots of earth and forest. Dark and medium to full bodied. Well priced for the quality.
