Disappointingly lacking in interest. Perhaps I didn't realise one should drink this young. Won't buy it again. What to do with the other 11 bottles I wonder.

I love this wine ever since the great 1978 and have many vintages still. Not drunk the great 1990 for a while.... I rather agree with those who think the 01 is now, sadly fading. It is a beautiful drink...ethereal and delicate. Still quite long. Rather suits the Beethoven 7th that I am listening to as I drink this bottle on my own. Still much joy in there but no backbone.

Very sweet but pure and clean, not cloying at all. Lovely

This one a bit corky and rejected - drank Clos des Papes and Telegraphe 01s instead

Previous bottle was not representative of this wine at all. Two more opened tonight and both were a delight. Beautiful balance of fruit and acidity and so very long.....as I type I had a last taste over 2 minutes ago and it is still fully recognizable and enjoyable. For a wine at this level its very good indeed. Bravo

Odd. I wondered if it was Aligote. Very acidic. Decant the next one, maybe. If you compare it to Les Setilles 15 by Olivier Leflaive it comes a poor third

Not as firm as the 2010, little short of acidity, but still a joy. Complex and long.

I've been drinking these up but there's not a lot of hurry. In a good spot at the moment. Delicious!

Not drunk one of these for a while but this bottle was so outstanding that I have just bought the last 2 dozen that I can find in the UK. Great value too.
Plenty of acidity left and a delicious long long finish

Is it just me? I don't get the Beaucastel hype. This was a good bottle of wine but against the Clos des Papes 01 and Telegraphe 01, both of which I had drunk very recently, it didnt even get near. The other two have such charm and elegance....Beaucastel 01 is an ugly sister against them....but why do so many other people want to dance with her?

This wine was surly and tiresome when young; nothing charming or interesting. In middle age it was dull and unbalanced. Now its thin and rather sour. Much like myself. I'm going to pour the rest fown the drain and open a half of something better. Which would not be difficult to choose!

I have the 2000. I don't like that much and I liked this even less. There is no clarity about this wine, no class. The fruit and tannins are blurred together quite unpleasantly and we didn't bother to finish the bottle. Fortunately my neighbour at lunch offered me a glass of good Volnay and that saved the day....

Outstanding. Opened at 11, decanted at 2, drunk from 3pm onwards with a roast sirloin of beef.

Perfectly well made but seems to me to lack any character or interest. Perhaps drank it too young

Good easy drinking but there is quite a bit of bottle variance. Last night, pop & pour. Started big (its 14 degrees) but settled down in to a pleasant if somewhat unexciting drink. The others liked it more than I did

Despite drinking this over a couple of hours it remained mouth puckeringly acidic to the point of unpleasantness. Quite the most unpleasant Fourchaume that I have ever drunk

atypical bottle. Good but not showing as well as previously - maybe drink up. Usually MDG is pretty long lived but 2000 has always been on the light and easy side

Sadly the penultimate bottle. Why oh why did I not buy more 04 Bordeaux. Only GPL yet to start upon. This was not a great wine but a very good, quintessential lunchtime claret. Cigar box and blackcurrants. Very enjoyable

Wonderful but others might be surprised by a distinct sweetness - we drank it with a Foie Gras of duck with which it was wonderful. Some years Thevenet makes a botrytised Macon and there was just a touch of that peeping through here. The first of 12 - did I leave it a bit too long I wonder?

Not a representative bottle - perhaps getting a bit tired. Time to start on the 01s

Outstanding with Christmas Pudding and well liked by all on Christmas Day and another today with a chocolate fondant.
The question is...is this infanticide? It is very good now. Will it deepen and become richer and even better? Anyone have a view?

Yet AGAIN - the last bottle was astounding and I drank the rest too soon. Astonishing. Firstly the colour, a deep, sharp yellow with a touch of green about it. Nose clean and crisp, citrussy. In the mouth, deep and very long. Great quality. Almost lemons, almost perfect. Bravo.

Odd. Nothing like as good as the previous bottle. Just rather characterless. Not decanted - maybe that was the problem. Perfectly pleasant but the last one a year ago seemed to be at the beginning of its life and this one the reverse.

I am giving this a low rating at the moment because it is so far away from being ready to drink and it could go in any direction. At the moment, on opening, hard and medicinal, though with a pleasant underlying raspberry dominated fruit. 20 minutes later, the medicinality has been replaced by very strong, very green tannins. Do not touch for a decade IMHO.
