3/9/24, 11:08 AM - je suis d'accord; ages well in cool cellar, too!
2/7/24, 6:45 PM - Paid $25.25 for my btls. in Chicagoland. Where did you by your btls.?
12/16/23, 6:37 PM - Drank very well last two days; concur w/your TN.
9/26/23, 4:56 PM - tout a fait d'accord!
8/17/23, 6:03 PM - Agree w/TN. This vintage an excellent cellar dweller. Drank my btl. tonight initially well-chilled on a summer evening on the patio w/a light sausage meal -- great match -- flavors galore, medium body and lively. Should last few more years in cool cellar. No rush w/Thivin.
8/5/23, 7:20 PM - Spot on TN; great QPR and excellent summer "rouge" w/evening meal on the patio. Burgaud knows what he's doing!
7/20/23, 8:01 AM - Good TN & very good advice; cellar this baby!
7/4/23, 3:11 PM - Concur; difficult to save some for Day 2!
6/28/23, 5:18 PM - Kudos on the TN; have six btls in the cellar where they'll rest for quite a while -- it needs time! Noted French critic J-M Quarin likes this producer who's making good progress.
5/4/23, 7:22 PM - Concur. Some great cremants available that compete well w/Champagne that is overrated vis a vis an objective QPR assessment. More & more people need to catch on.
4/30/23, 11:29 AM - Hold onto it, folks. According to a Frenchman, it'll get better w/cellar time.
4/20/23, 6:45 PM - Drank one, 4/2023. Still good, but time to drink up,
4/20/23, 4:06 PM - Spot on; wouldn't touch until 2027 @ earliest & stretch the window to 2045 like J-M Quarin does w/his 2/2022 TN, giving this vintage what I call the JQM "Trifecta" -- Best ever made; coup de coeur & Outsider, can't beat that for an endorsement to buy/cellar if you can find it.
4/8/23, 5:56 PM - Appreciate your candor. Good advice.
4/8/23, 6:32 AM - Concur w/the "great QPR." Bought mine in Chicago, where taxes are outrageous, for TTC of $13.65. Well worth it, so glad have more in the cellar. Yes, it cellars well for a few years & is a great crowd pleaser.
4/8/23, 6:27 AM - A very good alternative to the more common (& more expensive) Loire Valley SBs, as well as the Kiwi SB products. If you can find a St. Bris in US, try it; you may like it and so should your wallet.
4/7/23, 9:15 AM - For several yrs. have been a big fan of Burgaud's Bojo -- knows what he's doing & has a good future ahead. Hope he's around along time & his stuff keeps coming to the US -- I'm in.
3/24/23, 7:01 PM - Very good TN. Cellaring very well, too, w/plenty of time left in the btl. If one could take only one producer's Cru Bojo on the "Arc" that had to sell for well under $30, this would be my pick. A good pour while it's raining, it would still drink well after the waters were finally gone.
3/12/23, 2:13 PM - Vous avez raison. C'est un tres bon BV & it's aging well.
3/5/23, 5:37 PM - Noted French BDX wine critic Jean-Marc Quarin's notes seem to second your assessment. NIce to see some less well-known locations can produce a quality wine that will cellar well, which is where are going. Many thanks fo your TN.
3/3/23, 9:33 AM - Seems to be a consistently good producer across the vintages & a still decent QPR in the US.
2/16/23, 4:50 PM - I think Jeb Dunnuck nailed this one in his 2018 TN. See my own TN of today, which notes btl. variation being a major factor in how this may age. My 2nd btl. was great; the first one didn't deserve a note.
2/5/23, 6:09 PM - Spot on w/your TN. Just had a btl tonight and so glad I let it sit in the cellar until now. This vintage has lots of life left in it. No hurry, folks.
2/5/23, 6:02 PM - Bravo! Appreciate your candor and, yes, "ce'st un bon vigne rouge."
1/28/23, 8:44 AM - Concur. I consider it a "poor man's" Pomerol.
1/4/23, 9:08 AM - Good TN. Shows a decent BDX, if treated well in cellar, does not have to cost an arm & a leg. Thanks.
12/14/22, 7:18 PM - Appreciate the candor & tip!
12/8/22, 6:04 PM - Just drank a btl; will cellar well. Concur w/your TN.
11/12/22, 8:23 PM - Concur. Just drank a 375. If it had higher % Zinfandel think it would've had more depth/length. Still, quite good, but should drink now and not keep hoping for better.
9/30/22, 6:57 PM - Out of balance: Too tannic and not enough fruit to merit a 90 or more score. Doubt aging will improve it. Might as well drink up and do so w/food.
5/6/22, 11:12 AM - Excellent commentary; Jean-Marc Quarin, French wine critic, shares your views as well. Hence, a buy for me. Merci beaucoup!
5/1/22, 2:08 PM - Nice review & good endorsement for "les Crus Beaujolais." IMHO, still best QPR in France. For a summertime, red crowd-pleaser, can't beat a quality Bojo.
4/30/22, 5:09 PM - Mediocre, not worth the price and never had a peak in MHO.
4/4/22, 1:22 PM - Good advice. A top-notch producer that seems to get better as the years go by. Investments in its wine production are paying off.
4/2/22, 9:00 AM - Matches Jean-Marc Quarin's (French BDX wine critic) en primeur TN, i.e., medium body, 87 pts., but recommended drinking window (DW), 2026-2036. He knows his BDX. I'm w/him vis-a-vis the DW
3/28/22, 9:51 AM - Very good review w/good advice as well. Thanks.FYI, still have six in the cellar. Should be a treat for my 3 daughters whom I'm introducing to the quality & VALUE of well-made cru beaujolais.
3/21/22, 5:35 PM - Had a btl. tonight. Your TN summed it up well. Concur it's 90-91.
3/20/22, 1:06 PM - Likely the latter case. Chermette's MAV is made to age well w/proper cellaring. See J. Gilman's drinking window. The right wine makers, like Chermette, know how to make a good Cru Beaujolais vintage reward patience.
3/14/22, 3:37 PM - Concur. Needs food, like lasagna, to complement the dryness.
2/10/22, 9:57 AM - W/a high sales tax in Chicagoland, sells for about $26; lay it down for a couple years and it'll likely be worth that.
2/10/22, 6:41 AM - Very good comment. This wine is a great value w/a great story. When I first started to buy it years ago, Jaume family had it labelled as a CDR Villages. A few years ago they changed it to just a CDR. I queried them as to why and they wrote back that they wanted it to compete with Coudoulet de Beaucastel, which is also "just" a CDR. Have a case of '16 in the cellar that will sit until mid-2020s. In the interim, am buying later vintages at "bon prix" to drink as a go-to winter pour.
1/31/22, 5:50 PM - Well said. With this vintage merits being "Exceptionnel."
1/28/22, 11:34 AM - Very informative review; looks like it's time to start drinking my cellared half case over next 3 yrs?
1/22/22, 9:27 AM - Concur. Most of his better wines need time in the bottle; good cellaring pays off.
1/22/22, 9:25 AM - Good observation. See J. Gilman's tasting note, drinking window and score. This wine needs to sit in the cellar in order to get your money's worth and full enjoyment of it. Patience pays off w/many of Brun's wines.
12/26/21, 9:41 AM - Concur; good write-up.
12/5/21, 6:08 PM - Just drank 2nd of 3 btls and concur w/your note. Very good aromas & slightly tannic on the back end. Good QPR but later vintages, like '19, will need cellaring to get the best from this producer.
7/15/21, 7:16 PM - Concur; had the last btl. tonight. Aged very well over the years and worth the wait. Very good producer. If you can find futures of this wine in USA, buy it!
7/15/21, 7:09 PM - Good review; appreciate your observations at this point in time. Will wait a few years to pull a cork. Merci.
5/24/21, 4:14 AM - Good points. One definitely gets money's worth w/both patience & decanting of a well made BDX. And, it doesn't have to cost a fortune!
