Beautiful floral aromas on opening. Decant well for sediment. Concentrated, fairly complex dark fruits, leather, floral. Softened and well integrated tannins. Structured, mouth filling. Needed an hour air.

Aromas and flavors of grass, honey, citrus. A fun wine. On the sweet side, seems to have lost some acidity.

4 hr decant. Beautiful. Soft, elegant with fully integrated tannins. Drank along side 2009 Pontet-Canet. The Leoville was the favorite of all four people. More mature, structured and open.

On opening, closed, acidic with forward red fruits. After two hours softened into beautiful, well structured and balanced wine. Mature red fruits, forest floor, earthy with a hint of acidity (others described as rhubarb?). Silky, elegant with well integrated tannins. Needs air time! Worth the wait.

We've been opening a bottle every few years, leaving us with the hope that this wine would eventually evolve. Finally, it has! And we only have a few bottles left now!

Decanting required. Powerful, deep, well balanced with elegant flavors. Dark fruits combine with big, balanced tannins, leather, slight oak.
Long lingering finish.

Tannins are obvious and not fully integrated, will improve with more years under the cork. Delicious though! Dried figs, yummy blue fruits, caramel, light spices. A crowd winner, and again, will improve with a few more years.

Tasted at Quinta de la Rosa. This was presented as a very special Tawny Port. And it was, just not as expected. The overwhelming aroma and flavor of toasted wood distractedy from the other experiences that seemed to be favorable. If you enjoy a smoky tawny port, this one is for you.

Cork dry, fell apart at opening. Served after 2-3 hour decant. Much better the next day. Could use 8mhr decant. Stewed prunes, dark flavors, fruit forward, blue fruits. Slight spice, cloves. This was still alcoholic and tight at 3 hour mark. The next day this was flying, mellow flavors. Soft nose and medium finish.

My wife bought this for my 70th birth year birthday. Opened on New Year's Eve after dinner with dessert. Based on prior reviews we were not sure what to expect. It ended up exceeding anything expected:

Beautiful tawny brown color, popped & poured. Room filling aromas of caramel, maple syrup, cooked blue fruits. Thick flavors, amazing blend of sweetness and acidity. A volcano of concentrated flavors with fruits, bramble, peaches, leather, burnt wood exploding throughout. Long, lingering finish. A fortified wine for the ages! High marks from all - Steve, Linda, Ray, Elena.
