Tasted at '17 St. Helena Appellation (SF) Holiday Wine Experience - wow, a stunner! Deep, lush, powerful yet polished single vineyard. Impressively accessible this young, but layer upon layer of complexity. WOTN in a room of many contenders. Retasted at end and confirmed.

11/9/17, 10:21 AM - BadM - not sure how long it had been open - the woman pouring had years with MWall, knew her stuff...my hunch was 3-4 hours. It deserves a double-decant and 4-5 hrs on the counter prior to drinking...if you can wait.

Rob - makes me jealous! Enjoy! Tough one here is trying to find optimal drinking window. My hunch - it will shut down in 12-18 mo...and exchange the bright fruit for secondary/aged attributes. Tough to resist young, but would love to try in 8-10 years (my hunch of it's peak).

It has the legs of a high priced hooker and a color to match her panties after the fleet's been in town for a week. There's lamb placenta and freshly filed toenail up front, desiccated cat mid-tongue and it flips you the bird as it heads down your throat. All in all a very solid offering. Looking forward to seeing this wine evolve over the next few years.

2010 Atlas Peak Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

Good fruit on the nose and palate, however lacks sophistication of a cab from this area of Napa Valley. Few tannins or hints of spice, or really any traces of elevation terroir you would expect. Nice fire pit wine but not something I would serve prominently with a meal. At the wine.com discount of 19/btl it is a good value, hardly worth the retail price point of 40/btl in what is normally an outstanding vintage.

8/1/14, 10:39 AM - Love the description and details regarding relative value...helped me make a (non) purchase decision. Bummer, as the previous vintages of this have been stellar (at times). Dramatic changes in ownership/mgmt do weave their way down to the bottle, unfortunately. Thanks again!
