Side-by-side 04 & 07 Fuligni BdM. 04 smokey and tart on the nose. Flowers, lychee. Fresh and light on the front of the palate, with excellent grip and length. 07 nose warmer, dried cherries, rounder and softer mouthfeel, focused on the front of the palate. Both delicious but the characteristics of each vintage show clearly. 07 probably near its peak, I think the 04 has several more years of potential.

Drinking very well right now. Wonderfully funky Sangiovese nose, med full body, med length. Supple and smooth, really well integrated now. Super QPR.

Still drinking quite well, esp after an hour or so of air. Mushroom and leather, still surprisingly fresh, acidic. Great option for a variety of light to moderately robust meat dishes.

Fabulous after an hour in the decanter. Full, structured, and delicious paired with roast leg of lamb.

I bought a case of this. On bottle 11 now, and this is the 6th corked bottle. They are great when they are good but throwing away half my case is not cool. Not sure if other have experienced the same, but this is way beyond random, they have an issue here.

Huge improvement over the past 5 years. Tart apple, citrus, and an interesting but well integrated marzipan. Nice body.

N: Sweet dark fruit, char, soy. P: mouthwatering fresh tart blackberries transition smoothly to a mid-mouth cola flavor, then lingering slightly metallic umami notes on the long finish. :)

Midweight drinking quite well still, although wood is starting to win out over some of the fruit. Finish these off within the next 6 to 12 months.

Last bottle! The nose on this is really attractive to me, if a little woody or artificial. The barnyard Syrah funk balances that out and makes up for it. On the palate, I feel like it is a little past it's prime. After an hour or so it still had some wonderful flavors, but just a little out of balance with the tannic elements. Huzzah.

Wonderful viscosity and oily texture. Blend of stonefruit and olive oil flavors make this a really interesting and lovely drink.

lovely blend of fruit and secondary earthy notes. And sooo silky on the palate. If it were $25 I'd buy a case, but still a thumbs up at the $35+ price point.

Nice with an hour of air now. Pretty classic Brunelle with dried cherry, tobacco, maybe a touch of brown sugar.

I think I did this wine a disservice by approaching it as if it were just another cheaper Malbec. It is not earth shattering, but really it is pretty damn good. Especially after summer. Big plummy nose with some black pepper and rhubarb. Juicy palate, but not bloated, finishes long and clean. Great value!

N: cherry, soy sauce, violets, just a touch of caramel and vanilla. P: smooth and even with a strong initial wave of plum and cherry backed by some tacky tannins, transitioning to leather. A little window of cleaner cherry flavor as the mid palate transitions to a lingering toasty note. This is much better than my first bottle, very nice.

Dark purple. Nice nose of blueberry backed by a bunch of dusty, funky notes. Fairly straight forward on the palate, medium density and length. Seamless and smooth, but I agree w/ other notes suggesting that it lacks anything really distinctive.

This is outstanding right now. It's still a tarter, firmer version of Brunello than many, but the depth and length of flavor is wonderful, and includes an array of intriguing savory and fruit notes.

Deep, opaque inky red. Nose of cherry and plum, charcoal, mushrooms, dust, flowers. Really smooth mouthfeel, dense on the palate, but surprisingly subtle. Tart red fruit, maybe a bit of rhubarb, a bit of tannic grip, vanilla on the mid palate, nice acid throughout. The wood is strong here, but well integrated and pretty.

This is really nice several hours after opening. Was OK first night (first 3 hours) and then filled w/ N2 and plugged, 2 days later it had a lot of nice nuances but maybe had lost some volume. I think there's a sweet spot in there somewhere...give it some air.

Delightful cherry and raspberry on the nose along with tobacco and strong floral notes. Extremely dry with better cherry transitioning quickly to a touch of cocoa and then a long finish of brown sugar and leather. Decanted 30 min, no significant change over 2 hrs.

Outstanding...no detailed notes but this still needs an hour or two of air to release its lovely, dense and deep black fruit, leather, blood, and char.

Wow, this is a huge, tannic beast! After a couple of hours it started to show a heart of pure, deep fruit but it really needs another couple of years before it's a peak. Still, enjoyable!

Classic lacrima nose...indescribable. This is a little thinner than the superiore, lacks some body. The big surprise was that it really filled out overnight in the fridge (under N2). Much smoother and fuller day 2.

N: Raspberry, cherry, mushroom, black tea, maple syrup. P: Smooth and remarkably fresh, with classic Brunello profile. I get cherry, tobacco, pine needles. Nice bright acid streak and a long transition to a finish that has a sneaking note of truffle. Impressive for this vintage, my first Valdicava and a really nice wine!

N: Green! Green beans, or artichoke, some deep green vegetable note. And strong, musty soil. a bit of blueberry in there as well. P: Tart and a bit thin, makes the mouth water. Rhubarb and blueberry pie, transitioning to a medium-short earthy finish. Good acidity. Interesting, for sure...good bbq wine?

N: restrained, green apple, peach, citrus, a touch of almond or butterscotch. P: Flinty. Just off-dry. Really pleasant mouthfeel. Apple, stone, almost a metallic note there, and almond on the mid-palate, then lingering for 20 seconds or more. Takes some attention but there is a lot to like here.
