Sake
Lighter texture. Beautiful cantaloupe and herbs on the paplate with a subtle fruity sweetness to the finish. Really good.
Sake
Light with an oiky texture. Floral aromatics and palate with hints of fruit and a honeyed tones. Delicate yet palate coating.

2019 Equipo Navazos Manzanilla en Rama Manzanilla de Sanlúcar de Barrameda Palomino Fino (view label images)
Nose is beautiful. Heavy flor aromas carry unroasted cashews and almonds with just a hint of orange oil. Palate is light and fresh with an attack of orange oil, lightly roasted cashews and almonds and a big salty finish. A golden brown color that could be easily mistaken for Amontillado, but not surprising for en Rama. Definitely best with food, but delicious on its own.

Crushable! Strawberry and wet cement on the nose. Velvety texture with tart, but not crunchy red fruits of strawberry and raspberry, pinch of spice and just a hint of that minerality on the finish. It's not a serious wine and it doesn't care.

Way better as it warms up and opens a bit. At first it's a bit cotton candy-like and tropical and feels out of balance. Once it warms up there is a beautiful minerality with over-ripe lemon highlights. The tropical fruit recedes a bit and the cotton candy disappears. It's not pithy or tart, but the acidity is still kicking. Food wine more than an easy summer sipper.

Powerful and young. Lemon pith and stones dominate the nose. Big, round mouth feel with nervous acidity framing lemon pith, stones and saline. There's a hint of tropical notes buried deep with, but this needs time. Really good now, could be great with a few years. I'd give it 4-6 years, but it could definitely go longer.

Crushed seashell and under-ripe pear on the nose with subtle spicy notes. Palate is guided by electric acidity tempered by rich texture with notes of seashells, salt, lemon and undertones of under-pear and apple. Killer QPR.

Perfumed nose of fall leaves and strawberries, but definitely leaning towards the earthy side. Palate is in a good place right now: bright and lifted, yet the acidity is well balanced. Earthy, damp fall leaves covering a hint of strawberry and brambly raspberry.
White
Dense Chardonnay. Very mineral driven yet a great richness to balance it out. Subtle salty pear and apple with gentle honey and citrus tones hiding within. Medium complexity yet highly enjoyable.
White
Really beautiful. Nose is full of apples, honey, brown spice and hints of stones. Weighty on the palate with a pear and lemon with hints of wild honey and stony texture.

Tropical nose with lychee and melon, with hints of almond cream. Silky smooth front palate with lychee and melon, followed by a brisk and tart finish with salt, lemon, peach, and a hint of sage.

Waxy lemon and cream with subtle hints of ocean air on the nose. Palate is mineral driven with a tangy salt, pithy lemon and hints of creamy vanilla coating the palate. Bold and precise with the creamy hints give the palate just enough of a break from the bold acidity. Absolutely beautiful.

Really easy to like. Dusty stone dominates the nose with hints of pear and quince. Palate follows with the same mineral driven structure with stones and saline leading into a beautiful and zesty pear and lemon with hints of spice. Kind of feels like Muscadet on steroids.
Red
Vivid, juicy red and blue fruit with a note of soot-covered pine needles. Absolutely delicious.

Beautiful Pinot. Well knit with silky raspberry, cherry, decaying leaves, tea, and cocoa all riding a beautiful buttery texture.
Red
Great development. Had the 12 about 5 years ago and it was rocking. This has calmed down a bit. Way more tertiary with dried red fruits, mushrooms, fall leaves and hints of menthol. Drink up.

Rudi's wines are built for the long haul. This has beautiful concentration of raspberry and blackberry fruit with tremendous mineral definition highlighted by earthy and smoky depth, but the acidity need some serious time to integrate. If you have any bottles sit on them for at least a few years.

Mature and drinking beautifully. Spice, fig, blonde tobacco and dark berry mingle seamlessly. Truly a pleasure to drink.
White - Sparkling
Intense, broad, focused and long. Beautiful rich, ripe lemon and subtle underripe pear riding on broad minerality of saline, stones, and chalk. Great texture and serious length.

Banana, walnuts, orange rind and a distinct grappa note. Oddly pleasing.

Textbook Cornas. Animalistic earthiness with black and blue fruits and an abundance of stony minerality.

A bouquet I could smell all day. White flower, lanolin, hints of citrus oil. Found this sitting on a retail shelf for what looked like 15 years and it was in pristine condition.

Blackberry, clove, subtle earthiness. Pretty with bright acidity and good balance. Juicy and thirst quenching.

Great earthy/mushroomy core with dark berries and spice. Killer bottle for the money.

Sneaky. At first it's a little coy and muted but it opens up beautifully showing classic Syrah notes of olive, black fruit, and chalky minerality. Needs air.
Red
Needs time. Upon opening loads of roast meat, deep red fruit and earth. After opening up a bit it shows red flowers, rhubarb and serious stony minerality, but this needs time to come together completely. It's a bit rugged and nervous at the moment. Great potential.

Fine and pure. Just a touch of wood but so judicious. Clean and mineraly with citrus notes and just a hint tropical. Pure is the key word here. Undeniably Chardonnay, undeniably Chablis.

Probably the only rofosco (or variant of) that I've ever liked. Deep purple fruit, juicy and earthy and fresh with good acid structure. Great summer wine with just a touch of chill.
White
Beautiful nose of smoky toast, tangy citrus and a distinct minerality. The nose is nice but the palate way over delivers. Tangy citrus, green herbs, saline, stones and depth all on a chewy grippy texture. Stunning wine

Electric and gratifying. Fresh citrus, herbs, tangy and a bit waxy. Beautiful summer sipper.
White
Depth and beauty. Lime, stone fruit, and plenty of chalky salinity. Chalky texture but sleek and elegant at the same time.

Just doesn't seem to be doing what I know it is capable of. I'm hoping it's a dumb phase, because it is not all that enjoyable as is. Plenty of acidity to hold off for a few years to see what happens to it, but this bottle feels a bit cooked.
Red
Deep and complex with focused blue fruit, garrigue, stony and almost smoky. Beautiful complexity and definitely showing some secondary notes, but the acidity (at least of this bottle) was pretty high still and didn't start to integrate until 4 hours in the decanter. Plenty of life left to hold onto bottles for 5-10 years.

2014 Andrea Calek A toi nous Vin de France Syrah Blend, Syrah (view label images)
Wild and branyardy-(like a horse's butt barnyardy), but once you get through the funk there is a beautiful strawberry banana thing going on. Fresh, fruity, juicy and thirst quenching.

Absolutely polarizing but wonderful if you can get through the funk :)

Delicate and charming. Subtle cherry tones with an odd peanut butter thing and a good helping of crunchy minerality in the rear. Fun, interesting and quaffable.
Red
Nose: Flowers and spice, soft red fruit.

Palte: Bright red fruit on the palate with great spice and a tight tention. mineral finish and slight smoke.

Needs a few years still

Small Chapitaliation of .05 in the vintage.
Nose: A bit stingy but darker fruit like the 2012.

Palate: Richer and darker fruit, delicate acidty with plush, powerful tannin. Great texture and depth. This shows better than the 2012 right now (less power and more nuance) but probably won't keep as long.
Red
Nose: slight medicinal tone

Palate: Richer fruit, but muddles things a bit. Comes across softer and richer, just as powerful as the 2011, but almost jammy which covers the nuance in fruit. Smoky mineral. Density is the name of the game here.

This one needs decanting or a few years to allow the nuance to shine through. Ridiculously pretty.
Red
Nose: Black tea, earth, dark fruit. Subtle but expressive
Palate: Juicy and focused. Black fruit, medium plus density. stones and a meaty mintiness.

Beautiful bouquet of toffee, caramel, subtle nuttiness with orange highlights. Palate follows with a velvety texture, and nearly sweet with briny minerality, caramel, and orange oil with a long and persistent finish.

I want to drink it every day...all day...

This wine gets me every time. All the honey and oat funk with beautiful pear and quince fruit wrapped around it. A textural wonder and still had years left to develop. I just couldn't wait any longer!

Not a hint of oxidation, just love in liquid form.

Apple and a saline minerality with crisp medium-light body and a refreshing bite. Surprising complexity for the money.
Red
Great spice leads to peppery black and red fruits. Soft acidity and great balance. A gem under $20.
Rosé - Sparkling
Raspberry, cranberry, flowers and a touch of light syrup. Perfection.
