I was quite amazed at the style, structure and overall quality of this Champagne Brut NV. It is available at Aldi supermarket for $19.95 in Virginia.

Drank it at Can Can in Richmond Virginia with my son and friends. Decanted by Bob 1 hour before serving. What a magnificent nose. Lots of lead pencil, cassis, and great St. Julien seductiveness. Good mid-palate, complex finish and drinking very well now.

Color: Brilliant, red and clear-on the light side, but remember its Pinot Noir.
Nose: Totally seductive, lots of strawberry, raspberry, cherry and some complexity from the terriore.
Taste: Lots of finesse and elegance. A beautiful sensuous women, with plenty of complexity and charm. Very pretty and well balanced. Does it deserve Grand Cru status? But what a treat! A pure delight. We had it with Coq au Vin-a perfect combination.
Drinking well now, but could do with another year in the cellar.

How wonderful to experience the first 2000 vintage Bordeaux from my cellar. We decanted the wine 1 hour before dinner. The wine was accompanied by lamb chops on the grill.
Color was brilliant ruby red with plenty of deep rich color.
Nose was wonderful! Quite expressive with lots of chocolate, cedar, earthiness. What came across was a wine with plenty of character and complexity.
Taste had a silky entry, with a full rich middle palate, showing the excellence of the vintage. Superb mature tannins all in balance with the fruit and acidity. A lovely finish. I was very happy with what this wine showed in terms of the vintage. I have many bottles of 2000 Bordeaux in the cellar and it was a great preview of what is to come!!!

We had it with my sons, and my wife's wonderful Boeuf Bourgignion. Ruby red brilliant color, with very little brownish rim. The bouquet was incredibly seductive! Cherry, with wet forest and aged beef odors. On the palate the entry was silky and soft texture. The wine had superb balance with great finesse and elegance. Spectacular long finish. Wow factor was high. What a magical evening!

This magnum was perfect for the Thanksgiving meal. Plenty to go around, and its silky graceful texture with some spice, fruit and good balance, provided a fine compliment to the turkey dinner. Ready to drink now.

This wine needs time to ope up. I recommend decanting. A wonderful bouquet, very polished Nebbiolo. Lots of pie crust, rose petal, tar, with style. A sophisticated first entry into the palate, elegant and a medium mid-palate. A long finish with firm pronounced tannins. A lovely wine which has more time.

The color of the wine was red brick and cloudy. It gave the impression that it was much older than 2004. The bouquet was unique, opulent, exotic, complex and hard to pinpoint. The taste was delicate and plenty of weight and length. A very special wine that had you thinking and wondering what the hell is going on. I am worried that the wine is showing a lack of ripeness due to the 2004 vintage. I still loved the wine but have reservations.

The wine had some traces of oxidation. In the taste it was quite expressive, with complexity length and depth.

Sensational bouquet, full of character-roasted aromas, tobacco and ripe fruit. The taste confirmed how great this wine was. Lots of harmony and finesse with seductive flavors and a long finish. A first class wine!

We had the bottle with Lamb chops on the grill. My sons were in attendance. Deep rich ruby red color with no trace of age. (the wine is 15 years old). Nose was definitly 'Pauillac' cedar, lead pencil covered by intense cassis Cabernet Sauvignon fruit. A lovely rich texture of ripe tannins. Dense and concentrated with a noble aristocratic style. The finish was fine, but one wanted a little more complexity. A fine wine with pedigree.!

Brilliant ruby red color. Bouquet is seductive Pinot Noir-cherry fruit with some forest notes. Medium bodied with great structure and balance. Good texture and lots of flavor in the finish. I was pleased with the wine, having some grace and tenderness with still remaining true to the Cotes de Nuits. Drinking well now, but can still improve with a little aging.

A lovely mature bouquet, with plenty of cassis, and lead pencil. A medium to full bodied taste, round and gentle tannins. Low acidity making the wine very drinkable. From a 3L so I do not give it a long life-enjoy now.

Charming easy to drink wine. Lovely ripe fruit. Well balanced and juicy, with a well integrated finish. The only criticism is its simplicity.

Showing no signs of age-yellow and brilliant. Wonderful complex white Burgundy bouquet from a much better appellation than Bourgogne. Nutty, butterscotch, complex and seductive.
Great silky entry, long finish, great polish and style. What a wine for 12 years old. A very fine wine.

What a magnificent wine! The nose was flinty with a mineral, wet stone bouquet, and lovely fruit. The taste was elegant, feminine, and had superb acidity to support the flavors. Long finish that seduced you. I loved the wine, and it went well with the shrimp and mushroom with polenta.

The nose was seductive, great fruit and lots of cherry, strawberry, and ripeness. The taste was delightful. Feminine silky and beautifully balanced. Not big or powerful but full of flavor and generous with refined and delicate finish. I felt it taste well now but will last another good 5 years. What a treat!

We opened this wine directly from the cellar at 60 degrees. I decanted it and served it immediately. The nose was fantastic! lots of elegance and charm. Aged beef with cherry fruit and full of character and complexity. The taste was silky with lovely muted flavors-medium bodied with lots of finness . The finish was a little dried out, but not unpleasant. A superb wine which is ready to drink.

I had this wine with friends at the Bull Branch Restaurant in Lynchburg Virginia. I had a sirloin strip steak with french fries.
The wine showed extremely well, with a wonderful bouquet of spice, garrique, herbs of Provence-very seductive. The texture of the wine was fantastic and typical of Pegau. Grest concentration with balance and plenty of flavor. What a treat! and made the evening. Drinking well now, with plenty of life left.

We had the Chateau Ausone 1990 for my son's birthday at a restaurant. I enjoyed the wine with venison (a wonderful match).
The wine was in great shape, decanted about 45 minutes before consumption. This was the first time I had had Chateau Ausone out of the bottle. I have been to the property twice and had barrel samples only.
The color was deep inky red with very little hint of age (16 years old). The nose was a little tight suggesting the wine might have needed more cellaring. Compact with hints of mushroom, truffle, and earth bouquet. A complex and intriguing sent. The taste was balanced with lots if finesse and elegance. The finish had good levels of tannin and long flavors. A very fine wine but it did not have the 'wow' factor!

I had this wine with friends at 'Pomme' Restaurant in Gordonsville Virginia the evening of January11th, 2006.
A lovely vibrant clear ruby red color, the nose was quite expressive with dark cherry, rassberry, and complex aromas of earhty, aged beef.
The wine showed very fine structure and balance, good ripeness, with a finish that had still time to go. I would suggest waiting a few years.
I enjoyed the wine with a delicious veal dish with sweetbreads in a red wine sauce.
