A spectacular wine. Saline, marine, iodine notes and hints plus cashew fruit, fermented cashew juice, green apples and limes. Vibrant yet full and rich. Long and almost deep.

Mineral, intense lemon flavour, linoil, hay. Hint of oilyness in an otherwise sharp and vibrant palate. Just a tad of bitterness, well integrated with the texture and flavour. Will keep at least one to see develop.

Loads of fresh red fruit (raspberry, cherries). Fresh and vibrant, very pleasant, the 16 abv barely noticeable. Slightly short, but I want a case and to drink this often

Accessed with coravin.

Quite mineral, stoney, closed fruit at first. 15 minutes later, loads of fruit - dark cherries, plums. Tobacco leaves. Fuller body, electric acidity. Alcohol seems higher than Poligonos, despite the same 14% on label. Donut wine, lacking intensity on mid-palate. Floral notes show up on the long finish, more depth and length.

Quite "stoney" with herbs and vegetal notes.
Violets, plums, cherries, still quite youthful, even primary.
Medium+ body. High, vibrant acidity. Fine tannins, marked and muscular texture. Smokey note with time. Long finish, medium+ depth.

Bright and beautiful Ruby colour. High intensity nose, red fruit aplenty, hints of sage and basil. Loads of cherries. Some milk chocolate. Med+ body and alcohol, well balanced by high acids. Med+ tannins, slightly grainy but woven into the mid-palate. Med+ length, medium depth. Very good quality, curious to see how it evolves so will try and secure some more bottles.

A little thin and highly acidic, but still very drinkable at almost 18 years old. Cedar and pencil shavings on nose, alongside red fruit. Raspberries and cranberries still clearly noticeable amongst earthy and mushroomy flavours. Possibly at peak, as short, drying finish won't support the cutting acidity as fruit shades.

Still fairly deep after 10 years. Med+ nose, showing development while keeping the fruit (some leather, earthy, dried leaf, mushrooms and with time meaty notes plus strawberry, raspberry, plums). Med+ body, silky tannins. Cocoa, coconuts, toast. Cherries. Donut wine, lacking a bit of mid palate. Long with med depth.

Brownish golden. Very closed from start. Needs quite a time to open up. Not as deep and rich as I remember other Manzanillas from Navazos.

Extracted with Coravin (third extraction). A bit too oaky. Very "argentinean": intense and concentrated, yet lively acids and tannins becoming more polished.

Extracted with Coravin. Lively and fresh, will keep on for a few years, but is very pleasant right now - not a sign of excessive alcohol or overripeness. Developed in a very nice way - polished tannins, vibrant acids, nice combination of blue and dark fruit, leathery notes, tobacco, dried leaves and earthy notes.

Incredibly concentrated, lively and youthful. Nose is intense and packed with fruit -cassis-, intense cedar, hints of meaty aromas and smoky notes. On the palate a very salty feeling. slightly drying and a tad shorter than expected, also a little tiring vegetal feel.

Showing beautifully: oily texture with lively acidity and a hint of tannins. The oak ageing is slightly overdone, but the wine is nevertheless fresh and intense. Mineral notes, bright citrus fruit. Long, but the aftertaste lacks a little bit of intensity.

Very intense. Loads of new oak, vanilla and oaky aromas. Pear drops, white flowers, ripe peach. Hint of sugar (4 g?), high acidity, searing. Med alcohol (13,5%), evident after a pannel of OZ Semillons. Fatty, unctous. Med+ finish, with a hint of alcohol and the first notes of oxidation (dried mango, overripe fruit, first time I notice this in this vintage).

Ripe dark fruit, mixed with tertiary aromas (leather, tree bark, liquorice, chocolate liqueur).

A little bit hot both on nose and palate, would've enjoyed it more if it were lighter and less concentrated.

Curious to try another bottle in 3 or 4 years more as it was evolving but still full of fruit and with enough freshness to hold a little more.

Comparatively light colour. Unfortunately I was in a room too dark to be precise.

Medium intensity nose, typical: red fruit, dried roses, very floral. Vegetal notes. Hints of sweaty leather, slightly dirty (tasted blind, it made the group doubt it was Conterno).

Medium body, slightly alcoholic, slightly bitter. Fine, high tannins. Classic style. Clean, despite the nose. Very elegant and fine, finer than the others in the panel.

Peppery, dusty, yet clean.
Very clean, sharp palate. Dark fruit, pepper, stoney/slatey. Sharp acidity. Fresh, lean, flavourful without being overwhelming, very european.

Not unexpectedly, the freshier and most delicate in the panel. Beeswax, menthol, flower and fresh dough. Salty, slightly piquant. More traditional of "en Rama", surely due to its relative freshness. Will keep my bottle for a while, let's see how it develops.

Saca de Abril 2012, from a "Vertical" of different sacas.
Oddly, deeper gold than the 2010. A LOT of fresh dough. A hint of cooked apricot and slightly heavy palate suggest premature development. Gains freshness in the glass. Better structured, richer and deeper than the one tasted some 6 months before.

Saca de Octubre 2010, from a "Vertical" of different sacas.
Developed beautifully. A hint of maderisation (marron glacé, quince) both on the nose and palate, with a little air it goes under the wine.
Relatively fat, slightly heavy at first, regains freshness and vibrancy on the glass. Notes of thyme and oregano on top of fresh dough. With time, curry.

Dark cherries, smoky notes, hint of resin, vegetal note. Firm tannins, much less harsh than I remembered. High acidity, not harsh. Long, complex, beautiful wine. By itself it is amazing, alongside other vintages it shows its tannins but never lacking in elegance and refinement.

Past its peak. Still drinkable, but probably lost intensity and most of its character - never tasted it young. Didn't gain much complexity, so I just think it should have been drunk at least two years ago.

Slightly difficult to recognise as PN from the aromas, despite the delicate texture and the colour.

Cherries, strawberries and flowery notes, quite pinot-like.

Residual sugar slightly over optimal levels for my taste (5 g/l?), but adequate. Medium acidity, could also be higher. Soft, delicate tannins.

Delicate and well-made wine, a little bit over the price (US$30 in a special sale) but from a very reduced production (1850 bottles) and unfriendly climate for this variety.

From a Magnum bottle.

Deep gold, bright, with very small bubbles.

Medium+ intensity, lactic notes. Fresh apples, hint of dough, white peach and cinder, cinnamon, toasted bread.

Medium+ body, creamy, unctuous, high acidity. Fresh, again. Sherry-like flavours, green and red apples, hints of cinnamon.

Fresh, mineral, long finish.

From a Magnum bottle.

Medium+ gold.

High intensity, cinders, hazelnuts. Toasty, toasted bread. Slightly mineral. Some lactic notes.

Medium body, high acidity, herbs (thyme).

Very fresh, alive and complex. Seems as young as a good 1996.

With time, more roasted nuts and cinders.

Medium gold.

White mushrooms, brie cheese. Hints of flowers, honeysuckle.
Mineral notes. With time, soy as mentioned during the tasting.
Medium body, unctuous. Flowers.
Hazelnuts on the finish, very delicate, minty notes.
Very fresh, high acidity, well balanced, never hard or excessively sharp.
Hint of sherry-like almond, hazelnut.

Never oxidised, despite the nuts. Never tired, not a hint of baked/stale fruit.
Very long finish, goes down and up again.

A note of hazelnut in the aftertaste, long finish.
After a while, shows baked apples and cinnamon rolls.

Medium+ intensity nose, showing apples, stale? Acetaldehydes under static. After swirling: more fruit, cinnamon, hints of dough.

Medium body, fresh acidity, a lot of red, fresh apples. Hint of aniseed. Feels drier than 99, sharper. Mushrooms. Long lenght, mostly apples, apple crumble.

With time: more dough, white pepper.
More time (after tasting all): caramel, baked apples, apple cake.

Tough, austere wine.
