still totally alive with a brown sugar nose and sweet cheery fruit beneath. Love the old school label.

Enough of the Montrose already. This wine is singing and brought me back to great plum and black cherry fruit which my palate needed after 11 vintages of Montrose. Great call on Ira's part!!! Winner winner chicken dinner.

Tight as a drum but started to open up after a few hours. Time will tell if this will rival the 2009. Fruit is there but too much structure for now. Maybe time will mellow it out.

Second worse wine of the night. Very astringent. Overwhelming soy/saline quality. Thought I was drinking from the sea. Bleh.

Too young to truly evaluate. Has a bright future. I think it is in a dumb stage. Best promise of the young Montroses in the lineup.

We killed a baby. Will be better in a decade. A bit over oaked right now which overwhelmed really beautiful fruit. Amazing structure. Too hard to judge right now.

I am hoping this was just a bad bottle. It was sucky and disjointed. Super astringent. Poured down the drain. Need a mouth rinse to get it out of my thoughts. Yuck! Worst wine of the night. It may be my lowest scored wine of the year. 70 points

Coffee on nose. Medicinal. Not ready for prime time. Let it sleep and try again in 10 years.

This was the most approachable and a crowd favorite. Drinking nicely now but may not age as well as the 1990. Dark sherry fruit, ample oak and sweet tannins. Not silky but damn easy to drink.

From magnum: sexy, fleshy with well integrated tannins. Yummy red cherry fruit. Great finish. While this wine is drinking well now with air, it will last another 20 years.

Drinking very young. Barnyardy nose blew off after a while. While mine was gone quickly, others kept it around and it faded quickly over course of night. Dark red cherry in classic BDX style.

Great nose of cassis and forest floor. Good earthy character. A bit metallic on entry. Some tart cherry at first but this wine really evolved in glass.

Forgive me Father for I have sinned. I popped one of these puppies on the day I arrived. Couldn't keep my paws off and I wasn't disappointed. Great red and black cherry fruit with nice complexity and a touch of vanilla in the mid-palate. Awesome effort and will be a long-term ager.

Looks like I won the lottery with a bottle without any issues. It is a bit rustic but I am enjoying it. Somewhat restrained dark red fruit with great structure. Either I have a high tolerance for Brett or this bottle is unscathed.

Nose of tobacco, new oak and charcoal ash on opening which blew off after a hour. Great acidity, awesome cherry fruit with great backbone. This is a baby. Softened up over course of night. Let these rest a LONG time.

I really liked this intellectual sip of wine. Poured from a 100ml tiny bottle. It almost looks like maple syrup. Only need a tiny taste. Mature raisins and amazing viscosity. There was mixed opinions on this. I was a fan but others didn't care for it. A little dab will do you.

THis wine showed very well again. This was my last bottle and I am sad. It has just started to take on some mature champagne notes. Not quite nutty but some of the toasty notes are emerging. Crisp citrus fruit still there but with a bit less of acidity that this exhibited in its youth. No disappointment on this one.

Still fruit forward with cherry. Still drinking very young. It doesn't necessarily need more time it just hasn't developed the secondary earth notes that i will expect in the future. Very well made and I would expect great sophistication on the palate in the next decade on this infant.

What an amazing wine. Sophisticated and seamless. A joy to drink. Young but not an infant.

This was actually my favorite wine of the night. It was so well integrated and had luscious fruit that had settled in and wasn't over powering. Great acidity and some nice pine and green forest on the nose. This wine is flirting with monumental perfection for me in my Italian wine journey.

Black cherry, loam and pleasure.

This is the second time I have tried this wine. This time it was slightly more muted nose and lacked that lead pencil mid palate. However, the fruit was so well integrated. Dark bowl of mature cherry and cedar box. It was a great mellow wine that repeatedly forced me to swirl and enjoy the ride. At peak for my palate

This wine was really interesting. Much more of an earthy and mushroom component with some fruit behind it. The raspberry fruit carried the package but it was very earthy. Felt like we were sitting in a forest with newly turned brown earth. Great pairing with white truffle and risotto.

Absolutely the favorite of the night. Two hour decant helped this wine open up. This wine was all about pure fruit. Not a ton of the syrah barnyard that I might have expected from this. If a wine can be big and elegant at the same time, this is it. Maggie made something special in this bottle. Everyone was clamoring for more. It is young, but with a few hours of air, it was magical. Drinks like a champ.

This iwine knocked it out of the park. Big, bold, and beautiful. Black berry, blue berry and black cherry dominate the fruit profile. Some nice baking spice in the entry and a fabulously long, teeth coating finish. Great young cab.

Drop dead beautiful fruit. Laser focused fruit with raspberry and strawberry. This wine is in such a good place for a sense of cali pinot at its youth. Nice mid palate and one of the best balanced wines I have seen Lato produce to date. If you can keep your hands off them, it will age. Good luck with that.

This was a great starter. Great yellow fruit with some citrus and tropical flavors. Served on the chilled side and it was very complex without being cloying. REally nice effort and a great match for our seafood platter appetizer.

Should have finished this last bottle a few years ago. Didn't listen to my own 2011 note. Some fruit but definitely overpowered by cedar and loam. Not a ton of fruit left in this. a memory of days gone past.
