Similar notes to when tasted last year (note under Dry Red). More 91ish this time. Today slightly preferred the 2019 tasted just subsequent to this, though both excellent.

Cornucopia of berries and fruits and spice. Bright and fresh. Tasted midway through a spicy restaurant meal so further specifics are beyond me but ample length said at least 92. Opened today following the 2018, preferred this though somehow scored it lower than when I first tried the 2018 last year... that’s wine and tasting!

Black fruits and vanilla for the most part. A touch woody, dirty/earthy, and feathery grip.

Squishy red fruits mostly strawberry. A mushroomy pinosity and nice lick of spice.

Berries, currants. Some black olive, bay leaf. A little soupy/indistinct with not much structure but drinks very well.

Bickford’s lime cordial, dry apple cider, and granite minerality. Plenty of length but lacking the vitality/spark this evening for higher points... probably a little past its best and beginning a gentle decline.

An(other) excellent vintage... enjoyed this very much. Label note nails the particulars for now “bright jasmine and lemon scents on a juicy palate of tropical and citrus fruits underscored by a taut minerality” though of course this will develop in to something other and equally excellent given a few years rest in a cool dark place.

Label says blueberry, black cherry, spice, chasing a smooth finish, and I won’t argue. - it hits those marks. Simple, moderate length, and a bit syrupy but just within the bounds of being okay. I enjoyed drinking this, it gave me enough of what I was looking for. Score +/- 2 points as scorching hot day makes for terrible tasting conditions.

As per the label, tropical and stone fruits, lemon acidity. To which I’d add green grass clippings. Moderate length. Score +/- 2 points as scorching hot day makes for terrible tasting conditions.

Apricot and citrus as per the label. Rich sweetness is the initial impact, pretty well balanced on the finish. Really enjoyed this and tempted to score higher but think I had been seduced and was no longer objective, so left it.
Red - Sparkling

Rich berries, fine bubbles, certainly more going on but in the middle of hosting Christmas Dinner so couldn’t pay this much attention. Score +/- 2 points as scorching hot day makes for terrible tasting conditions.

Cherry and berries, vanilla, milk chocolate, baking spice, underlying earthiness. Chalky tannin, slightly juicy line of acidity a small blemish for me. Same as it ever was, a good ‘un.

Everything I want from a Scribbler, an excellent vintage. 90 or better. Plum, black and blue berries, currants, spice, dark chocolate, meatiness. A little lick of dusty tannin and a wash of fresh acidity.

Blackberry, redskin lolly, Ribena, spice and earth. Sweet on initial impact but finishes dry. Lick of tannin and just enough freshening acidity to bring it back from the brink of too much confectionary... at least for my taste... just. Good fun.

Cherry, other dark fruits, spice, savouriness, a lick of tannin, and balancing line of fresh cleansing acidity as per startinoz’s comment. Astounding value, same as it ever was, year in, year out. None the worse for having a slight chill knocked in to it on a stinking hot summer day.

Berries of all colours and plums and liquorice and clovey spice. Touch of stalkiness. Medium bodied and fully excellent balance. SO good to drink... perhaps not quite enough length for the score but everything else is in place.

Red fruits, earth, spice, liquorice root. Powdery tannin. Decent length. Gets better with air. I’d be a point or two higher on this except a mousy / barnyardy character drifts in every so often.

Meatiness and compote and chocolate and pleasure. Plenty of length, fleshy tannin. I cellared a lot of Penfolds Bins 9/10 years ago but little since, whenever I try one I think I should’ve been buying more, as they are a joy to drink at 10-15+ years old.

Cherries and berries, also a smidge of spice and cola and earth and heat on the finish, the latter no great surprise with stated alcohol at 15%. Perhaps more to syrup than cola. Tongue coating dusty tannin. Hedonistic, heady, would be perfect Friday night fodder for me (it’s now Sunday). I’m almost seduced/pissed enough to bump the score up to 89.

Florals, just ripe berries and cherries slightly stewed, herbs, spice, savoury minerality. Fine tannin, balance and length excellent. Wife rarely comments on the wines I pour but felt moved to with this one “nice wine” and that’s all I really need to say. Touch and go for higher points as evolved pleasingly through the evening.

As per the label though others could fairly read more in to it. White peach, lemon zest, some cashew. A tad dilute or at least light, and a tad awkward, not quite the right balance between the lemon and the rest.

Mouthful of dusty drying tannin, bit too much wood, redeemed to a large extent by the concentration of black fruits and cassis, some mint. Difficult to score, not in balance but peering through the dust I liked the flavour profile well enough with lamb backstrap this evening.

Ripe dark berries, blackcurrant. A little mint more to spearmint, and cigar box. Drying dusty tannin. Plenty of length. Notably the ripest Wynns black label that I can remember tasting, and in my view slightly the lesser for it. Tasted over 4 hours and didn’t change much though final glass the best... Reckon 10 years is not enough for these black labels, maybe 12-15+?
