Lime, bath salty minerality but slightly harder, purity, power. Delicious. Plenty of length.

Pretty much as per the label. Cherries, red berries, some spice. Lick of tannin. Drinks well enough but won’t set anyone’s heart racing.... no faults but no spark.

Home made blackberry jam bubbling away on the stove. Blackberry bush, herbs. Heaps of tannin of the rugged yet pillowy tongue coating variety. I enjoyed this but it lacked the finish for higher points.

Cherry, chocolate, brightness, spice, marzipan. Pinosity. Power, yet balance, heaps of length with fantastic earthy mineral tannin.

Superb! Delicious, complex, delicate, and long. Do you need to know any more? Apple, peach, flowers, lemon, with a dusting of white and black pepper, and sprinkles of green herbs, sharpness, and earthiness. Excellent balance and acidity washes through just so.

Blackberry, blackcurrant plays second fiddle. Savoury spider web fine tannin structure. Balance and length excellent. Might be the first wine I’ve tasted from Mudgee... now keen to try more!

Citrus, pith, apple, peach, some banana and tropicals. Not complex, more of a fruit salad, a hodgepodge. Plenty of length perhaps argues for higher points.

Structure and tannin fully excellent, possibly better, flavour profile not so much... a strange black savouriness.... where is the fruit? Difficult to score. Not what I expected from the 2009 Canberra vintage and a wine of this pedigree. Screwcap and bottle cellared perfectly since purchase fwiw.

Pretty good medium weight Barossa shiraz. Dark fruit and black stuff, coffee oak. Perhaps drank better on night two but I left the score unchanged.

As per the label “light, crisp, and beautifully aromatic”. Raspberry, herbs... maybe lychees, watermelon but that might be the power of suggestion from reading one of the other notes. In any case, another excellent vintage of this fantastic wine.

I’ve never had a bad Hoddles Creek Chardonnay, no matter how many years it’s aged from vintage, but they do benefit from having some years under their belts. Stone fruits, sweet citrus, ginger, minerality, nuts, body, creaminess, balance, yum, impressive length and notable intensity on the finish.

Enjoyed this. Cherry, some strawberry. Spice, soft leather. Have suffered a self-imposed Pinot Noir drought during this scorching hot summer, and perhaps enjoyed this all the more for it being the drought breaker.

Nastiest wine I’ve tasted in memory, and I’ve downed a few bottles in my time. My wife said “tastes like wine from an itinerants goon bag which had been stored in some bushes” and claims to speak from personal experience. Maybe (hopefully) a bad bottle? Screwcap fwiw.

I was a bit harsh in scoring this previously. Descriptors as before. Mulberries, currants, bay leaf, savoury elements, dusty tannin. To which I’d add, pleasing pucker of tannin and ample length. First Friday night for many weeks where the temp has been less than 30 degrees, and I’ve been looking forward to a glass of red.

Pretty good. Juicy, jubey fruit, mostly berries, some spice, lick of tannin. Bit of alcohol heat evident lowers the score a tad but mid summer not ideal tasting conditions.

Peach, creme brûlée, melon. My wife thought butterscotch. For all that, not particularly rich ... those elements come in a pretty restrained package.

Candied pineapple, some apple, tropicals. Was given a 2/3 full bottle one day, shoved in fridge, and tasted the next, so not really ideal or fair. But for the record.

Good drop, this. Leafiness, dark fruits, cassis, some gravel. Fine grained tannin, ample balance and length. Benefits from a few hours of air and would benefit from a few years in a cool dark place.

Guzzled a glass with roast dinner on a stinking hot summer’s hot day so didn’t form much more impression than that it is shiraz dominant with red, blue, black fruits. Chocolate. Bit of structure. Enjoyed drinking and would like to have a better look at this.

Terrific to drink. Strikingly pale. Florals, peach, passionfruit, citrus, minerality that makes me think of granite but I couldn’t tell you why, as I doubt I’ve licked granite, at least not since toddlerhood. Not much length is the only thing holding this back from higher points.

Pleasantly surprised to find myself enjoying this, had bought it some months ago as a super cheapie to use in making mulled wine, but summer is here now so I cracked it open to splash in the spag bol. Black and purple fruits, some mint and cigar box. Decent finish and grip. Around 87. Ridiculous bargain from Aldi.

A lot depends on serving temperature. Served cold from the kitchen fridge it showed tropicals and citrus, but as it reached more like cellar temp it showed citrus blossoms and summer stone fruits. Notes from half bottle left on second night.... think it was better then than first night. Difficult to score.

Shared a bottle of this, enjoyed it, challenged by it, and never really made my mind up about it. Dark cherry, plum, some raspberry, redskin lolly. Spice and roses, meatiness. Also some green stalky notes. Complexity and balance fully excellent, length pretty good too. That green note a trick too far for me to go higher on points.

Peach and apple, but after a couple of glasses it’s the lime, steeliness, purity, and length that hit hardest. Length alone demands higher than 91... in totality I don’t see it, tonight, but that could just be my inexperience with this style of Riesling.
