(A) Sweet spot right now. Heat has tamed just enough to balance the dwindling tannin. Creamy yet still acidic enough to excite the side and mid-palate simulataneously. Cherry, cream, vanilla, and a touch of toasted tobacco. Drink now.

(A-) Right in my wheelhouse. Tons and tons of acid. Even a whole day or air didn't bring it all together. But the fruit is beautiful. Delicate, a touch tart even. Cherry and a touch of cranberry. Delicate greenery from the whole cluster. It's not ready yet, but you can tell it will be fun when it comes together. Hold.

(A-) As expected. Tannic and textured, but rounds out with air. Gobs of dark fruit with just enough spice nuance to keep it going. Acid not yet coming through. Needs time to reach potential.

(C+) A little muted, and feels over the hill. Flavors are there - red fruit, soft cheese rind, and a bit of stem. Powdery element that doesn't work with the acid. First Moss Creek I've ever had that tasted old. Might be bottle variation. More likely its the vintage. Drink.

(A/A-) Just what I remember. Violet all over the nose, with a whiff of vineyard breeze. Acid all the way through, which is lovely. Red fruit, violet, and cola elements. Just beautiful. Perhaps a tiny bit muted, but it's going to come on strong soon. It was good night 1. It was back to "wow" status night 2. Drink with 24 hour decant, or hold.

(A-) Drinking nicely. Needs about an hour to begin being available, and improves from there. Nice dark fruit with an elegant, creamy mouthfeel. Tannins are there, but very smooth. Acid seems lacking until the very back of the sides of the tongue, where it slowly takes over the mouthfeel to leave you wanting another sip. Touch of charcoal and wood. Hold.

(B-) Fair amount of alcohol on the nose, with a nice bit of sweet red fruit wanting to peek through. Bold from the get go, but all the flavors are hiding behind acid. Warming the bottle helps a lot, and brings out some roundness to the fruit. Still a bit underdeveloped. Hold.

(A) One of the better School House chards in recent memory. Very very burgundian. You get just the right amount of oak, with some wheat and hay elements, admixed with tons of fruit complexity. Hold.

(A-) Fabulous wine, and in a great place right now. Rich fruit up front that combines nicely with smooth tannin and palate painting texture throughout. Wonderful vanilla and chocolate traces that are not overdone. Hillside fruit characteristics start to open with with some air, along with some nuanced floral elements emerging mid-palate. Finishes strong and memorably. Probably on the way up. Drink or hold.
White
(NR) In a weird place. Acid finds its way all over the palate, unlike the concentrated acid I know this wine can have. Hold.

(A) Evolving beautifully. It was always a killer chardonnay, but it has just really opened up and started to reveal itself. Soft wheat and straw elements balanced with rounded fruit and a bit of honey. The oak is showing itself a bit more prominently than at release, and will likely integrate beautifully with age. You will enjoy it now, but I think it will continue to improve for many years.

(A-) Just a lovely Pinot. Wish I had more. Cool river-rock elements all the way through, balanced by a beautifully floral purple-pink fruit. Nice touch of spice at the end, very faint and not overdone. Clean, refined, and just begging for a bit more age. Very drinkable now, but I would hold.

(B) Starting to lose a touch of fatiness, which is opening up the underlying fruit. In an odd stage having lost its baby fat but not yet developing secondary characteristics, so it comes through as one-dimensional. Needs to be re-visited soon.

(D) Nose is sharp, with red fruit a bit of root vegetable. Calms down once you incorporate enough air. Lots of dirt notes linger on the nose, which actually becomes quite pleasant over time. The palate is a mess. Highly unbalanced, but at least it is all acid, which gives me the slightest glimmer of hope this may turn into something interesting down the line. Right now, not worth driking either of these.

(C) Still doesn't hold a candle to the 2011. This is a nice, but not special rose. The 2011 was enlightening. Hopefully it is a vintage issue, and not a process issue.

(B) Nice. It is a bit flabby for a Riesling, and I expected a bit more crispness. But the acid is there, it just is a bit more spread across the palate. This actually allows some of the citrus and dirt elements to be stretched out and more identifiable. Little bit of stone that I wish played a biggger role.

(A-) My last bottle. Took about 40-60 minutes to fully round into form, and stayed nice over 3-4 hours before trailing off a bit. Just gorgeous wine. Blackberries and leather predominante, rounded out by a bit of creamy-vanillin, surely from the wood. Has started to develop secondary spice characteristics with a warm cherry liquor background, that will likely only become more prominent with further aging. Still has time. Drink or hold.

(B) Big. Bold blue fruit up front with a little red tartness in the back. Hint of fat, tar, and a touch of smoke lingering in the depths. I think this going to emerge big time over the next few years. Hold.

(D) Thin, slight funk that doesn't blow off. Hoping this needs time, but I don't get anything that leads me to believe there is anything will develop. Hold, I guess. Or dump.
Rosé
(C-) Completely different from the prior year. More caramel and wheat notes, without the lovely floral component. Much more subdued and less vibrant color. A bit thick, and without the crisp acid from 2011. Hopefully bottle variation. Hold.

(B) Very solid Sonoma offering, drinking very well right now. Nose still has a fair amount of oak and vanilla, tempered by mellow red fruits. Red fruits up front and all throughout, nicely rounded out with just enough acidity to keep it interesting. I do wish the acidity was a touch higher. Drink now.

(A) Profound wine, drinking beautifully right now. Tons of dark fruit and a very unique caramel/burned sugar element. The fruit and caramel follow through to the palate. The fruit wanes while the complementary warming caramel element waxes from front to back. The background has a very tiny bit of menthol. Touch of oak brings it all together. Really starts to sing with about two hours of air. Drinks at triple its price. Drink now.

(B+) Nice simple Beaujolais with perfect varietal truth. Ripe, fruit forward with grape, raspberry, and strawberry. A nice bit of wild vine character works its way forward with air. Touch of candle wax and white chocolate in the finish. Still plenty of acid. Drink or hold.

(B) Much improved over my sample at the winery, with some nice Sangiovese character coming through. Fruit is right up front with nice granular tannin. The acid still shows strong, which is nice depending on the food you are eating. Nice cool fruit finish. Not much complexity, but I don't think this vintage was ever going to find any. Drink now.

(A-) Really drinking beautifully, despite clearly not being ready to open. A quintessential "food-wine" at this stage. Still primary and fruity up front, but the background hints at wonderful barnyard, barrel-toast, and grain of paradise complexity. I'm anticipating a very gracious aging process that rewards long-term patience. But still very very nice right now. Hold. Or drink. But hold.

(A-) Fabulous wine. Needs about 3-4 hours to really come into its own. But what tremendous layering. Nice blue/black fruit on the nose with a touch of vanilla, warm spice, and a lively herbaceous eucalyptus element that is just barely showing itself in the background. The tannin is trace and powdery, and complements the nice acid structure. With air, everything opens up further, and the complexity emerges. It has wonderful Howell Mountain-esque characteristics, but doesn't go overboard. All the good from the mountain plus a bit of a "cooler-climate" personality. Drink, or hold.

Closed off. This wine had a wonderful youthful vibrance, but it's now dormant and off-balance. Hold.

(C+) Nose is nice, with earth, fresh red fruit and barrel room. But the fruit is out of balance. Too sweet without any acid balance gives the impression of poor extraction. A wet wood element is hard to shake. Air helps a bit, but it's just not there. Drink now, it's not getting any better.

(A-) The tannins are just starting to resolve. Wonderful diesel and pine on the nose, announcing itself as Howell Mountain right up front. Somehow the underlying fruit and spice element are muted compared to my last bottle, but that may simply be the wine in evolution. It's still got tons of structure and lots of intrigue in the complexity department. It needs food at this stage, though. Score will likely creep back over 90 over the next 5 years. Great wine.

(B+) Very ripe acidity and a lush grassy and grapefruit aromatic element. Going to be really good, I opened it too early. Needs some time to mellow the acid, but the fruit element and the flavor depth are excellent.
