flawed
Should have enjoyed this wine earlier as it was a bit oxidized and a rather unpleasant nose.

Last bottle on hand of this wonderful wine and fortunately it was still excellent though outside the recommended drinking window. 92 points.

Surprisingly exceptional wine. Enjoyed with steak and shrimp kabobs and the flavors were bold and fruity. 89 points.

Learned the hard way that when good wine reaches the end of the drinking window that it is a good idea to drink it. Both bottles had the cork crumble and the first was vinegary and definitely oxidized. Second bottle is drinkable but would have been better a few years ago. I have other bottles of various wines that lasted much better than did these.

This a typical wonderful Howell Mountain Appelation cab. Not a tremendous nose but the depth of taste more than made up for it. Not as nice as the O'Shaugnessy cab or the Del Dotto cab "David" from Howell Mountain but still wonderful.

In a 12 person six wine blind tasting, this wine did poorly. A 2004 Brunello I had assumed would really be nice but most thought it was a bit thin. This wine was beat out by some rather inexpensive wines like Hess CS and Bonterra CS.

In a 12 person six wine blind tasting, this wine did poorly but for the price, not too bad for a nice wine with a chocolate touch though none of the 12 tasters picked up on the chocolate. Fun wine and nice for Valentine's Day

In a 12 person six wine blind tasting, this wine did well and for the price, exceeded my expectations. Most thought it was a smooth cab in the $25 area

Still my favorite wine. In a 12 person six wine blind tasting, this wine was the clear favorite. Exceptional color, nose, and finish with a wonderful taste of berrries and vanilla. Ended up drinking two aditional bottles with some steak and scallops.

Drank two bottles with friends at Al Biernat's (best steakhouse in Dallas). Can't beat Howell Mountain for the very best cabs. Wonderful nose of fruit with incredible smoothness. My new favorite after Caymus.

Tasted from the barrel during a visit to the winery Nov 2011. This is their Flagship wine and the Howell Mountain Cab comes out bold and strong. 40% Cab, 30% Cab franc, and 30% Merlot. Limited production. Extremely smooth and a spectacular finish. Definitely want to give this a few years to make it even better.

For $10.00, this is an amazing wine. Smooth and rich with a wonderful finish. My favorite everyday cab by far.

Smooth and wonderful with steak. reminds me of a less expensive Caymus Cabernet with hints of vanilla.

Good but not up to the 2004 Brunello's.

Far exceeded my expectations for this Costco name brand. Smooth and reminded me somewhat of Caymus. Wonderful texture and can only get better with time.

What a great wine for 10 bones. Nice nose and mid-palate. Drank directly after opening...next bottle I will give it a chance to open up and decanter it.

Did not realize that according to the experts this wine should have been consumed a few years ago, it was spectacular. Decanted it for 2 hours prior to serving and it was wonderful with some grilled steaks. Nice nose and extraordinarily pleasant on the palate. Smooth with an exceptional finish.

Pleasantly surprised on the taste and smell of this wine. A bit sweet (as the name implies) but not a dessert wine. Nice to have solo and not necessarily with meals. I'm going back for a case.

Nice nose of lemon and thyme. Smooth and refreshing and perfect with cheese and crackers. Inexpensive wine available at Costco's and nice break from the New Zealand varieties. I will buy more of this wine.
