Quite interesting. Pale golden colour with less bubbles than you expect on this type of wines. Very strange nose, closer to a white wine than a traditional Champagne: dry, mineral, flowery notes. Dryness continued on the palate, with excellent balance between acidity and freshness. Long after taste. A different champagne, away from the classic flavours but really intriguing.

A solid choice, but probably a bit overpriced compared to recent "manzanillas pasadas" tasted as Barón. Opened a week before tasting, day after day it gained in complexity and after taste.

Highly overpriced. Of course it is a good wine, but for the price paid there are lots of more affordabel and satisfying options on the market, even in the same brand.

Toasted and balsamic notes mixed with jammed fruit (plum mainly) and hints of mineral. Savory, with body and acidity, red fruits, creamy background. Important presence of fruit and mineral notes. Good aftertaste. I like this wine, is a bit "rustic" but also very personal.

Mid cherry colour. Blackcurrant, leather, raspeberry on the nose. Some acidity, tannins still unpolished, slightly alcoholic, balsamic notes, blackcurrant, coffee, medium bodied, savory and smooth. A classic Rioja, austere, with personality, probably needs more bottle.

Dark golden yellow colour. Attractive nose: burnt tyre aromas, baked apple, honey, flowers, quince. Excellent acidity-sweetness balance, honey, muscatel, quince, smooth and delicate, long finish. Captivating Riesling wine which paired perfectly with foie and a shrimp salad.

Not very aromatic on the nose: peach, citric notes, sugar. On the palate is fresh wit a greasy background, good acidity, peach and grapefruit aromas, herbal notes. This wine reminded me of Cloudy Bay 2009 but on a step below, with less intensity.

Medium red cherry colour. Tobacco, red plum, woods, a bit alcoholic on the nose and not very intense. Savory, spicy and balsamic notes, plum, blackcurrant, medium bodied, good after taste. Considering its price you cannot ask more for a wine so nice, pleasant to drink and well made. Recommended.

Pale yellow colour, small and persistent bubbles. Hard to describe on the nose: pear, yeast, red licorice, mineral notes. Freshness on the palate, savory, vinous, dry, apple, citric fruits, mineral, after taste with strawberry finish. Away from standard champagnes but very interesting anyway.

Beautiful light yellow colour. Initially closed on the nose, after a while there are some mineral and flowery notes, red licorice. Really fresh on the palate, orange, slightly creamy, excellent persistence, after taste with citric flavours and mineral notes. A different champagne from byodinamic agriculture which paired extraordinary well with dried red tuna fish from Barbate and acorn-fed Iberian pork products (chorizo, salchichón, lomo).

A masterpiece. A wine which gives you a pleasure hard to describe. Mahogany slightly blurry colour. Extremely intense on the nose, almonds, wooden notes, creaminess, toffee, varnishes, full of complexity. Spectacular. On the palate everythings continues: walnuts, sweet almonds, creamy background, toasted notes, reminds of biological sherry aromas, sharp, soft and elegant, extraordinary finish. A perfect example of why these kind of wines are so magical. I recommend to drink it slowly by sip, enjoying all its complexitiy.

Dark cherry colour.Aromatic and subtle on the nose (vanilla, blueberry, toffee, violet) and some balsamic notes. On the palate, the tannins have softened respect the opening, alcoholic, sweet and sour notes, cocoa, elegance, creaminess, full-bodied, nice after taste. A wine that currently needs decantation, I will follow its evolution in bottle. Price scores the rating down at this moment.

Still quite young, this wine will improve considerably in the future. Butter and toasted aromas on the nose with some flowery and mineral notes. But it's on the palate where it showed its power, complexity and an extraordinary after taste. Currently it has less greasiness than the "basic" Ossian 2009, which in my opinion is more enjoyable and satisfying at this moment. So, I recommend to keep it as long as possible.

The "Antique" series from Fernando de Castilla offer and exceptional collection of outstanding Sherry wines, and this "Palo Cortado" is a perfect example. Powerful wine full of details and complexity with reminiscences of brandy flavours, but at the same time drinkable and enjoyable. It´s really hard to describe it without appealing to emotional descriptions. Paired especially well with stewed spicy chickpeas and a mushroom-cream sauce. Outstanding.

I have to admit I didn't expect much form this wine as the tasting notes below weren't positives, but now I have to say I enjoyed this Matallana a lot. Mid-cherry colour, on the nose I found aromas of Mediterranean-style wines (balsamic notes, coffee, plum, blackcurrant) on a creamy background and hints of raspberry. On the palate was spectacular: strawberry, blueberry, creaminess, some coffee, meaty and mineral flavours. Well structured, light tannins, excellent acidity, long finish. In the end chocolate bonbon and violet flavours appeared. A wine full of nuances, easy to drink but also complex, paired perfectly with pasta dish with leek and cream sauce.

It happened again. Compared and tasted along with "La Bota nº15 de Fino" is some steps below. It lacks of the magic of its competitor, but it is an excellent wine, though. Probably drank alone without its "competitor" the rating would be higher. Anyway, a solid choice from the people who is changing Sherry wine's world.

Unfortunately my last bottle, but happily it was enjoyed among friends, some of them not very fond of this kind of wines. But everyone agreed this was by far the best "fino" wine they had ever tasted. And that is incredible considering it was bottled on June 2008! You can find some salty notes on the nose which reminds of "manzanilla" wines, but on the palate was extremely elegant and smooth, surrounded by creaminess and extraordinary sweet almond flavours and everything we expect from a fino but on a sibtle and higher level. And of course, an everlasting finish that is almost magical. Trust me: if you ever have the chance to buy a bottle from Equipo Navazos, don't hesitate and get it. It will never disappoint you.

Typical "burnt tyre" aromas from German Riesling wines, honey, quince, orange peel, flowery notes. Amazing and full of nuances. Spectacular and intense nose. You can sense aromas from almost two meters! Olives, almonds, walnuts, varnish, woods, flowers,... Really smooth on the palate although the presence of its 21º is evident. Sweet almonds, salty and oxidized notes, long finish. Complex, but I think the wine was better when opened, that's why I have lowered the score a bit. Anyway, a new success from Equipo Navazos.

Powerful on the nose (clear vanilla notes, plum, blueberry) with an spectacular creaminess and elegance on the palate, red fruit notes, hints of pepper and some coffee notes, but in the end there are clues of its Toro region origins. Very long finish. On the second day it was even better. Recommended with acorn-fed Iberian pork loin, or just alone.

Although I haven't tasted many Burgundy wines so far, I have to admit that wines like this make me understand why this region is so magical. With its typical pale red colour, on the nose shows earthy, strawberry and raspberry aromas but in a subtle way. On the palate is smooth, with no presence of tannins, strawberry, some creaminess, coffee notes in the end. Extraordinary long finish full of elegance. We were four at the dinner, and the wine disappeared in less than half an hour. Only the price keeps the wine away from a higher score.

It's remarkable how a 1999 vintage white wine still shows its youth. Very pale greenish yellow colour, typical aromas of Riesling wines from Mosel surrounded by nice sugar aromas. On the palate there is a perfect balance between acidity and sweetness, sweet grape and apple flavours. It paired greatly with an almond and chocolate cake. Fully recommended, but if you are capable of waiting a few more years you will enjoy it even more.

This wine had a tough competitor, but I think they finally tied the score. Very different, close to Burgundy wines without refusing its Rioja origins. Despite its decanting the wine needed more time to develop its aromas and nuances, and I found myself secretly enjoying this wine while others were finishing its Clio 2006 glasses. This has to mean something, hasn't it?

This wine showed us how important is a good matching between food and drink. I must confess I have a weakness for this kind of wines, because they succeed in achieving a perfect balance between sweetness and acidity and also have an excellent value for money. Clean greenish yellow with golden glint. Papaya, burn tyres (typical from this wines), herbal and sweet aromas, creamy and fresh. Some carbonic on the palate, citric fruits, medlar, peach, mineral hints, good sweetness-acidity balance, nice and elegant after taste with herbal notes.
Very enjoyable wine and of course fully recommended.

A small disappointment. Some people strongly recommended this wine for its value for money, but I disagree. Not very aromatic nose, some vanilla notes, cream and red fruits. Tannic on the palate, alcoholic, blackcurrant, coffee, good ending with balsamic and toasted notes and fine acidity. Although it improves after an hour, I have tasted more complex wines at a lower price. It's OK, but it doesn't surprised me at all.
