Drank with a ribeye along side 2006 Colgin IX Estate and 2006 Hundred Acre Kayli Morgan. This wine was thinner than the other two but still very nice. It reminded me of the Ridge Monte Bello style; not quite as "big" as most Napa cabs

Needs to be decanted before consumed. Wine is still young and a bit tight. Relatively low alcohol level makes it food friendly. It really does need food to compliment it. We consumed without decanting and without food but still was enjoyable. Classic Ridge style.

This wine has been stored properly since its release but it seems to be corked even though the cork seemed intact with no leakage.

I previously reported on this wine. I tasted it without decanting & it was flat, dead, no life. It actually opened up after double decanting and after letting it sit for 24 hours. However, it never delivered a vibrant, luscious or even elegant tasting. It was a huge disappointment. The 1982 was tremendous but this vintage was disappointing.

This wine had no life. It was decanted twice and also allowed to sit with the cork in for 24 - 36 hours. It never demonstrated life and it was very dirt like in taste.

There was something rather stringent about this bottle. Maybe it needed more time in the bottle. It lacked fruit and while pleasant was a disappointment. Not up to the standards I expected of Bernstein.

I think I should have decanted this wine. I used a Venturi but the wine seemed tight. I should have checked the notes before going with it. I think some decanting would have moved this a few points.

Typical Bordeaux earthiness; unfortunate for this wine it followed the Chateau Mouton Rothschild but still a very nice older wine that has more life in it.

Elegant, food friendly, plenty of life remaining; almost devoid of that Bordeaux earthiness; fruit forward, silky texture -- the way a great wine should taste.

This bottle seemed a bit astringent or harsh, not as smooth in the mouth as prior wines from Sea Smoke. It was consumed over two days but the extra time did not improve the wine. I noticed another tasting note with "sour" as the descriptor - that is perhaps better than harsh or stringent. Disappointing.

Elegant but close to the end of its life. I really enjoy this wine but it is not as big as I would have expected for a Spanish wine. I will need to consume my last two bottles within the next few months.

The cork deteriorated during the opening and mold had gathered on the top. The cork had become totally black from time and perhaps seepage. I double decanted and allowed the wine to sit for 1 1/2 hours. Its color, nose and texture were consistent with a 30 year old Bordeaux. I thoroughly enjoyed the taste of dirt from St. Emilion with my Buffalo steak. It was a perfect compliment. I have not been as pleased with a few other bottles from the grouping. Even my wife enjoyed a glass and her wine of choice is Sauvignon Blanc.

Double decanted this wine and it then demonstrated the terroir of Bordeaux including the dirty smell and taste. I let it set overnight after drinking two glasses following the decanting. I then refrigerated it for a short term to lower the temperature and it was much more pleasant to drink. This wine needs to be consumed this year as I doubt it has much, if any, life left.

The nose was pure overpowering stinky cheese rind. The flavors were a composition of dirty gym socks and cough syrup. We were told by the sommelier that this was a classic Bordeaux that needed to mature at least 10 more years in the bottle.

Slightly musty when initially opened but eventually opened up into a wonderful aroma of red berries and flowers. Medium bodied with an almost syrup-like mouth feel. Exceptional amount of sweet dried fruit and spices on the palate. Long finish.

I can't put my finger on it but this wine seemed corked but not exactly. This is the third bottle that I have consumed over the past three years and not one of them has intrigued me. I may have to donate to a local charity as I doubt I will return to this wine.

Not nearly as citrusy or tangy as the great New Zealand S.B.s. It competes ok with those from Napa but I still much prefer those from NZ.

Curiously this wine is not as good today as it was five years ago. Perhaps I missed something but it was much more alive and complex back in 2006 & 2007. I know it has not been spoiled in the cellar as it has been stored properly since it was purchased. It is not a bad wine, but it does not stimulate the palate as it has in the past.

Cork appeared to have some seepage plus loads of mold on the top of the cork under the lead seal, which was loose on the bottle. However, wine did not taste as if it had been oxidized and in fact it was a pleasant drink. I decanted it twice and it was very elegant.
