Beautiful nose of pure currants and violets. No bricking, deep red color. On the pallet dark fruit, with seamless tannins which are well integrated with acid, just a really great wine. Very smooth finish which seems to last forever, would love to taste again in 5 more years but this is my last bottle, will have to try the Lotus vineyard designation next!

Decanted for an hour, nose was a little muted, more fruited than floral. Against the backdrop of other vintages (this being possibly my favorite Napa Cabernet producer) I found it good but not great, and other 2011’s I’ve tasted like Greer have performed better. All the normal components were there, dark fruits, vanilla, oak and muted tannins but they just seemed subdued. I only purchased 2 of these and I’m not sure how it’s going to age, maybe I drank this one too young. Not tying to be Debbie Downer, could be my pallet was off, paired it with a grilled steak.

Young just starting to emerge, pop and pour, would benefit from decanting. Very delicate nose with some alcohol. Deep red color, really big fruit, some sweetness but not overblown, tannins pull the fruit in and the finish is long. This needs time (or a decent decant) to really shine, I’m sure It will improve with age, I Wil wait unless 5 years to open my next one.

Pleasantly surprised, deep dark cherry flavors, nicely resolved tannins with a super long finish. The wife gave it a 96.

Subtle nose of cherry and forest floor (?). Very balanced, mature cherry/raspberry fruit, a little mid pallet sweetness with a touch of acid on the muted finish. Ready to drink, would not count on any additional improvement.

Black cherry flavors, surprised how "young" this is drinking, nice tannins, reminding me of the Rutherford dust profile. One bottle left wish I had more.

I initially had this rated lower trying to handicap it for being a 2013, served blind this would be hard to pick out as a second wine. Firing on all cylinders, restrained fruit, rich tannins and an acid balance, delivers from the bouquet on the nose to the finish.

Nice color with very little bricking. Cedar, tobacco, red fruits, nice acid balance with softening tannins on the finish. Still has time but I don't see it improving.

Bricked at the edges, red fruits, soft tannin, acid, a lack of fruit, otherwise acceptable but not memorable

Apples with orange peel, nice minerality, a taste of oak. Finishes with s razor sharp acidity that goes on for 60 seconds.

Big, really big massive fruit, a slight medicinal flavor, gripping tannins and acid help control the fruit. An outstanding Syrah. John Alban is a genius.

More restrained than other vintages I've had of this. Pop and pour consumed over two hours, improved as it got more air. Plenty of gas in the tank for ageing.

My 4th of 6, I wish I hadn't blown through these so quickly. A bit tight but nice balance of red fruit, acid and tannin. Keeps me away from the paradise hill!

Nice medium bodied Cabernet. Mix of red and black fruits, middle pallet is a little hollow, but a nice if not spectacular finish, enough tannin to last several years but I would not expect much improvement.

Not my cup of tea. Still together but the nose had high alcohol, bright flavors but not a deep or lasting finish.

Did not find this to be a fruit bomb, but not overly complex either. Nice "medium" cherry fruit, and good backbone of acid and tannin, but nothing really snacks you in the face. Not bad, but not memorable.

I found this to be very primary, not a lot of complexity, may just be in an awkward stage right now, with 7 bottles left I guess I'll see!

Pop-and-pour, Very primary Grenache flavors, not my favorite Saxum at this point (and I have quite a few) but hopefully the flavors will integrate and improve with some age.

This is drinking really nicely, better than an 05 I had a couple of weeks ago. Certainly could go longer but it's in a good place right now. Solid fruit core with soft tannins.

A little tight initially as a pop and pour, it opened up beautifully as we consumed it over a couple of hours. No initial barnyard just nice fruit with a long finish. Extreamly well balanced, hard to resist now but I'm glad I have more to follow as this will improve with some time in the bottle.

Great nose with hints of cocoa, red raspberry fruit with subdued sweetness, well integrated tannins with a nice acid finish that last for over a minute. I've possibly underrated this. Years ago Matt opened a ton of older bottles for a group of us during a winery visit and I have to believe this has time in the tank left.

This was WOTN at a non-structured blind tasting.
Will wait a while (3-4 year so) before I check in on this again.

I tried this not knowing exactly what to expect it being a 2011 and so young.
Happily surprised at how well it tasted, plenty of fruit with firm tannins, finished lasted longer than a minute.
I think this style might age well.
Glad I got 6 of the 2012's

I had a few of these when they first arrived and was not impressed but they seem to be settling down now and developing. Not as sweet as some other vintages which is a good thing. There is an interaction of fruit, acid and tannin that while not balanced (hey it's only a 2013) seems to work for current enjoyment. Will be interesting to follow, but I drink these too quickly; only 4 2012's left out of a case.

I liked this a lot, a mix of new world fruit and old world finish, not too much oak or sweetness. Certainly can age more, would have liked to open a 750, but had a large crowd.

fruit forward, cherry flavored, bigger style, tannins are present but not overwhelming with nice balance of acid on the finish. Not for extended ageing but should drink nicely for the next couple of years.

Agree with the JEAGLE 8-14-13 notes, except I give her credit for depth.
PNP after a 9+ hour road trip to decompress.
This is hitting all of the flavor spots, with one of the longest Pinot finishes I've ever had. Blind I would put this up against any other bottle - unfortunately my last.

Opened this up with a group gathering to celebrate a 65th birthday and unfortunately it was only decanted for about 45 minutes. It was very closed/tight, muted nose, crushed stones, acid notes but the fruit was hiding. Not a crowd pleaser, everyone was expecting a lot more.
Luckily I took some home for day two; much more open, clean "pure" fruit, neither heavy or sweet, some meatiness, currants. Real long finish with nice tannin undernotes. The 93 is based on day 2
Will be interesting to follow how this develops over time.

Sweet on entry, full body, flavors of leather, tobacco, asphalt and coco, long finish but a hollow mid-pallet, just OK, might improve some with time.

Unfortunately a pop-n-pour, was heading to a concert. I thought this was a little more restrained than other vintages I've had, but we didn't give it a chance to really develop. Dark rich fruits, integrated tannin, still a baby. Possibly my favorite Napa Cab producer

My oldest Cali Cabernet. Very surprised how well this was drinking. No bricking, tannins, fruit and acid in a nice balance. This is one of those wines that is drinking great but could go a lot longer and I'm a fan of younger wines.

Was afraid this might be too young but it's in a good place place with plenty of stuffing for the long haul. Wonderful nose full of dark fruit and a touch of alcohol, great mouthfeel and balance with blackberry fruit, violets (?), slightly grippy tannins (in a good way) and a clean, balanced, long (60 second) acid laced (not fat) finish. My first of a six pack, it will be interesting to see how this develops over the next 10-15 years.

Nice red color no signs of age. Very bright nose of crushed smoky (oaky) berries and underlying sweetness, all Sarah flavor on the entry, nice fruit with tobacco, glycerin, wet stone(?), smooth middle but still has tannins showing through on the long finish which last for several minutes - I think the tannins will out last the fruit. In a nice place now.
