This is a funky orange-style wine. I don't disagree with the comments that this tastes like cider vinegar, but I think it has some very interesting complexity and depth. This is one of those wines that will encourage discussion.

After reading other comments, I let this open up for 90 mins. The nose emerged: dusty and mushroomy. On the palette, sour cherries, and good acidity.

Great earthy nose, with a not unpleasant hint of pungency. Good dark fruit on the mid palette. Medium finish. I think will get much better with a few years of age.

Sweet, thick, dark gold color. Nicely aged, but not a huge amount of complexity. Nonetheless, quite enjoyable, esp with some good Roquefort.

This was fantastic. The nose was rich with inviting dark fruits and cigar box. The tannins were integrated, great structure, and a long complex finish. This had all the wonderful Bordeaux characteristics, too bad I only had one bottle.

This wine did indeed open up in the glass. Dark plum and earthy on the nose, a fairly rich mouth feel. I am not familiar enough with the terrior of Morey-St Denis to judge how representative this wine is. It definitely had considerable fruit, mild tannins and acidity. A very approachable and easy to drink wine.

Earthy, even funky nose. Medium body with deep plum fruit. The fruit was ripe but balanced nicely by the tannins and acidity and earthiness. Overall a very good example of a central coast Pinot.

Excellent pear, smoke, and honey on the nose. This wine had a good amount of acidity to balance the fruit. Medium to light bodied, with a nice finish and straw gold color. Overall a very good Chassagne-Montrachet.

Thick and buttery. Deep golden color. Full-bodied with plenty of fruit, honey, apricot, peach, but the acidity is almost gone. Still this was drinking well, probably peaked about a year or so ago.

Not much nose, but an inky color and dark fruit on the palate, blueberries, black cherries. Had side-by-side with the 2000 Beaucastel and the Tablas Creek held its own. I think this 2004 is probably close to peaking and should probably be consumed in the next year or two.

Big dark plum and earth nose. Thick and jammy with blackberry and a bit of tar. The components were all there but this bottle seemed a bit flabby, it lacked a firm backbone to give it structure. Although very good, I was hoping for more from Beaucastel.
