I have consumed 5 bottles of this wine to date and I like the evolution of this wine. While some may argue that the wine is new world in style, I think with additional bottle age, the wines terroir will become more evident. This wine has a tremendous mouthfeel for such an inexpensive wine. Frankly, I think this wine is a steal at its current price.

Consumed over three hours and the wine continued to evolve beautifully. I suspected the wine was somewhat shut down and opted to decant a quarter of the bottle. Initially consumed with a red wine braised oxtail which paired well because the acidity of the wine cut right through the rich elements of my appetizer. Thereafter, consumed with salmon. Very complex wine but it needs time. I enjoyed the wine in the decanter better.

Gorgeous wine with lush fruit but also tremendous acidity and freshness, particularly for such a big wine. Excellent upside potential and a great value!

Went to an organized tasting and decided to buy a few bottles of this wine. Frankly, this was a waste of money. I am typically not this critical, but this wine does nothing for me. Interestingly, very different experience from the impressions I formulated at the event.

Had alongside the 89 Lynch and clearly a beauty. More feminine than the powerful, muscular 89...but it has plenty of life left for those that enjoy mature clarets.

Elegant wine with beautiful core of fruit evident with tannic frame imparted from the vintage. A sophisticated wine for those that cherish old school clarets.

Matt Scott's tasting notes are pretty descript of this wine. Will be interesting to see how this develops when the lush baby fat subsides. I like the balance of this wine, but it is big and very powerful. I look forward to a more civil encounter in 10 years as the tannins are certainly prominent but well integrated at this early stage.

Wow...this was stunniing both on the nose and the palate. A very complex white that is intellectually intriguing. Impeccable balance with great fruit, wonderful acidity (albeit modest for Silex), chalk and minerality. This vintage is now extremely difficult to find and I wish I had more. Still plenty of life ahead but probably drinking at or close to its peak. Simply wonderful! Consumed from a magnum.

Consumed for my brother's 30th birthday. What a wonderful aromatic expression reminiscent of sweet bubble gum. Fully mature and exceptionally smooth on the palate. A very enjoyable 82 and particularly impression considering its humble dedigree.

Consumed in equal parts over two days. I like the balance and restrain of this wine...good fruit but not jammy or over the top. For my taste, this wine needs time to come together. However, I think it has good upside potential. 92-94 points.

Drank over two days and really enjoyed this wine. Good fruit, nice structure and great texture on the palate. A nice blend of dark black fruit and some bright red fruit. Already showcases a nice aromatic profile and certainly makes you wonder how much better the Grand Vin could be. First time trying this wine and I was really impressed. I just love the finesse and balance of this wine. Very enjoyable with a long decant.

I enjoyed this wine very much after four hours of aeration. Initially, very tight and unyielding aromatically and on the palate. Over time, the fruit and acidity emerge to exhibit a well balanced wine. Good upside potential and nice QPR.

Stylistically, very similar to the 1985 La Mission Haut Brion, with lots of soy, balsamic, and dark ripe fruit. This is a beautiful and complex wine.

We decanted this wine for an hour and it developed weight and impressive depths of favor and complexity. Extroverted nose and excellent symmetry on the palette. Great Pauillac typicity showing tobacco, leather, mushrooms, ripe fruit and a little hint of pencil lead. Very impressive. Decanting this wine made a huge difference. Still a number of years of life left in this tannic but beautiful wine.

Interesting wine with unique fruit profile. Somewhat Bordeaux like in style, but nonetheless very distinctive. This is a really big wine that should be paired with food and left to age for a number of years.

This wine has enormous potential. Over an hour and a half, this wine developed beautifully, but the tannic frame is still quite evident. Ripe fruit, very fresh, high acidity, complex, excellent structure and good balance. When the wine opened up, it was simply delicious. I plan to revisit in 5 to 10 years. Bravo!
