Pure Pauillac pleasure - mid-weight, which is perfect.. graphite and blackcurrant.. so ready to drink... zero point holding this any more. Not necessarily complex or layered, but so tasty and absolutely correct.

7/12/21, 10:17 AM - decanted a mere 20 minutes.. simply does not need much air.

Good, but showing excessive ageing
V biscuity, beyond where all the other great 2004s are.
  • sooper65 commented:

    8/14/16, 10:13 AM - indeed, very perfect.
Bollinger just didn't nail it like everyone else in 2004.. well, that remains my opinion anyhow

White - Sparkling

I have tasted around 20 different vintages of Krug and this is probably the worst vintage wine Krug ever released. Strange on the nose, bitter finish. This is not even good.

Tasted next to Krug 1996, 1998 and 2000. All others were great but not the 2003.

Just bought a case at auction today.
Massive, powerful, marvelous flavors with a longlasting finish. Sorry I don't have anything more helpful to others, but I was enjoying a nice meal with my ladyfriend and not paying too much attention to details of the wine!

3/24/14, 12:58 AM - how much did you have to pay for 12 bts at Auction?

Red
2000 Château Malescot St. Exupéry Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend

Mature nose. Not my favourite style and a worryingly green streak throughout. Searing tannins. I don't see this improving.
  • sooper65 commented:

6/2/13, 11:46 AM - Green streak? Alex, this is the acidity. Malescot 2000 is wonderfully ripe. Best decant for 6 hours minimum next time you crack open a bottle!

Red
2008 Fattoria Poggio di Sotto Rosso di Montalcino Sangiovese

Three Vintages of Poggio di Sotto Rosso di Montalcino (Dig Wines, San Francisco): Medium red. Nice mix of lighter red fruit and soil in a light package. No sense of underripeness or dilution. I wouldn't pay $70 for it, but a good effort for a lackluster vintage.
  • sooper65 commented:

2/3/13, 11:38 AM - 2008 is far from a lacklustre vintage in Montalcino, my friend. In fact it is joyous.
