This was such a pleasure - been too long since I've had serious white Burgundy and I definitely need to dip my toes back in. Superfresh aromas of salty sea breezes, fruit mostly lemony but maybe a little peachy, and just a little bit of popcorn. It has a tactile quality on the palate that makes the fruit not merely lemony but also lemon-zesty, and as it warms up it even turns silky and gives it some of the feel of the tannins in a very polished and refined red. It keeps turning liquid to solid on the finish which is all salt lick and fine stone powder.

Totally a pointe for my taste right now: medium weight, silky tannins, gorgeous red fruit, smoke, earth, pencil lead. It's got it all, in a graceful package. Last night with broiled venison chops it was singing.

This is simply amazing and classic California Cab at age 35. Full, boastful nose of rich cherry and plum with pronounced cedar, tobacco and bell pepper accents. Fruit is still so sweet, ripe and fresh. Mountain fruit provides cedar that is especially pungent and tannin that is chewy. So good and still very young. In a peak zone now.

2/17/21, 5:10 AM - Completely agree with this note. Just had the wine last night and the sheer depth of fruit (without being overripe) was remarkable. Feels like it’s just entering its peak window and will easily stay here for another 5-10 years.

Yikes - really overblown stuff; blackberry, licorice, cocoa. Hot and aggressive. Similar palate. Tiring to drink.

3/14/20, 7:05 PM - I am sure you tasted what you tasted but I totally disagree with your categorization of the wine. I am very much an old world wine drinker and by no means into high octane Tuscan wines. Pergole Torte is one of the handful I actually buy. But this was really awesome. Huge wine for sure but no way was it hot or “sweet”. It certainly had ferocious tannins, and there’s certainly a lot of fruit, but there is an elegance underneath, and definetely a good amount of acid. I think this will be incredible in about 20 years.

Tasted non blind at a wine dinner.

Light yellow color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Tight nose of lime, apricot and talc. Flavors of cherry wasser, lemon and peach. Bright acidity, medium body. Drink or hold. No rush. I'd hold.

9/5/19, 5:01 AM - I wouldn’t touch this till 2025 in 750s and 2030 in mags, at the earliest. 2011 is a “softer” vintage so won’t be as long-lived but Prum Auslese is notoriously long-lived. I am not opening any Auslese younger than 2002, right now. In mag format, I can’t imagine this being anywhere near ready.

(Rieslingfeier 2014) I have no words. Head-shaking beauty. Perfectly balanced between the sugars and acidity. This wine clearly aged on its balance and not on any specific element. Clean as a whistle, just light golden color. Hard to imagine this sat in bottle for over 40 years. Really, just wow. Prum always surprises me by showing even better than the last mesmerizing bottle I had.
