Leather and tobacco driven wine with moderate cherry and plum notes keeping the wine in balance. On the palate, it was cigar box, mint and dill in addition to the flavors of the nose. Delicious.

Moderate dark fruit core backed by asian spices, mocha and a touch of creme de cassis. Palate is very rich plum and cassis fleshing out the strong core of spices and charcoal. Finish becomes pruney, with spice and charcoal. Good.

Moderate plus aromas of honeysuckle, red and green apple, peach and orange blossoms. Palate is balanced with prominent fruit and floral notes. Apple was the more prominent feature in this wine.

The huge bottle deceived me. The nose starts off full of red fruit: red plum, red currant and strawberry framed by baking spice, cocoa with some earthy undertones. A bit lighter on the palate than expected with plums, strawberries and currants mixing will with mint and pepper notes. Good finish.

I was a big fan of this, though it showed older than it was. Medium golden straw core, developed bouquet of petrol, peach, green and red apples. Very mineral, almost slate undertone, with a fair amount of dried herb and hay. Flavors are rich cinnamon apples and peach with a long, brown spice finish.

Very rich cherry and plum with dark chocolate and truffle notes. Well balanced fruit balancing out the asian spices and dried herbs. Pretty delicious for the price.

Rich strawberry, bing cherry, raspberry with black tea and cola notes. A fair amount of vanilla and nutmeg with some cardamon, pepper and forest floor hints. A bit young but a good Russian River Pinot.

Full-on old Napa style with tart cherry, strawberry and red plum balanced with mint cedar and cigar box. As it opens up, there are hints of charcoal and asian spices that become present, bringing everything together. On the palate, there is a refreshing amount of acidity that keeps this bright and refreshing. Young and could use more time but delicious.

Rich and full as expected from this vintage. Open and decanted for two hours before consumption. Well balanced plum, currant and blackberry balancing cedar, cigar box and pencil shavings. Mineral medium plus finish. Delicious and a great qpr. I wish I had more.

Fairly well integrated tannins, juicy with loads of currants, blackberry and plum. It has a gravel edge that starts to show along with some tobacco and earth but the fruit is dominant. Drink now or hold. Good qpr.

Medium straw core, moderate nose of lemon verbana, hay, buttered toast with vanilla and dill undertones. Full bodied flavors of lemon with a strong herbal presence of dill, hay and lemon verbana. The wine builds in body on the palate, finishing with wet stone, vanilla and hay. Fairly good.

Tasted non blind, opened and tasted over 2 hours, the wine had a deep garnet core with a light brickish rim. While still young, this wine showed a developing bouquet of dark cherry and cocoa powder with some background accents of chewing tobacco and leather. The palate did not disappoint, with enough tannin to show its age yet not overwhelming to the palate. The predominant flavors again were black cherries, cardamon and a slightly salty minerality, with a mid-palate burst of chocolate and leather followed by a slightly spicy finish. The wine was drinking well but could do with another year to fully integrate the tannins. Drink 2012-2015.

Tasted non-blind during the World Cup final. Smooth, burgundian style of tempranillo with red cherry notes in the forefront followed by a smooth finish of leather and mocha.

Farpointe tasting non-blind. This was a favorite of mine at the tasting. Did not have the overwhelming fruit flavors on the nose and palate like the other shiraz tasted. Had hints of spice and dark fruit(blueberry and blackberry) but the taste definitely lived up to its name with rich black pepper taste and medium long finish.

Was a very light, crisp chardonnay; acidic and tartness like lemon on the palate.

The nose on this ruby-colored wine showed of tart red cherry, licorice and a slight hint of dark chocolate. With the taste came red cherry soda, with a tart, fizzy finish.

Nose speaks of mocha and dark fruit, specifically blackberry. The taste was also light on fruit and bigger on the coffee/mocha undertones. The nose suggests more than what the taste gives. The wine is pleasant, easy to drink, and was enjoyable, just not something I have to seek out.

Full disclosure: I love tempranillo. This wine was a good Texas interpretation of what the grape can do. The wine had red cherry, strawberry and the subtle spice in the finish. Overall impressions were that it was good, a fine buy for the price.

Bought and opened today. Not overoaked but still had some small hints of vanilla and toast from the oak. This wine was more about the citrus: lemon, melon and tropical fruit. The acidity in the wine makes this a nice compliment to the salmon. For the price, this is definitely a wine I will buy again.

It opened with a musty nose, earthy with a hint of mocha. The taste was similar, heavy on the tobacco and leather, finishing dry and heavy on the palate. To me, this wine would have been better with food to cut the heaviness on the mouth. Overall, I was not that impressed as a stand-alone wine but it had potential in the right scenario.

Decanted for an hour opened up this great wine. Had a very nice nose of leather and dark fruit. Very balanced on the palate with a long finish.
