This was the first time I tasted a wine from this estate.
I was struck by the fact that the Riesling pedigree was totally disguised in luscious hot sweet fruit, peach and with an off dry finish exploding with taste.

In fact, I thought it appeared as a dry Alsace Pinot Gris Grand Cru of very high quality... But slightly drier!

Light yellow colour.
Still gives a very young impression although delicious now. I will wait another 5 years.

Dosage 6 gr/l.
Vinified in small and used oak casks from Burgundy. Contains old vines 860-45 years) from Cramant.
The nose is marked by the oak, aromas of rhum. On the palate very dry attack finishing with a slightly oaky end.
Somehow, I would have prefered less oak.

This vintage contains Cuis and Chouilly.
Feels mature and developed on the nose, honey, nuttiness. Nice balance between acidity and cray with a very dry end. Isabelle suggests to drink now. For those who like older Champagnes this one would easily keep fairly fresh another 5 years.

A blend of 60% 09/10 from "Foudres" and 40% 2011 from steel tanks.
Dosage 7 gr/l. Disgorged October 2015. Contains Chouilly, Cramant and noticeably Le Mesnil.
A distinct Blanc de Blancs where the Mesnil adds to the depth. Cellar for a few years before opening! Another 1-2 points potential.

A blend of 2010/2011 (Chouilly, Cramant and Cuis) bottled in 2012 and on the lees for 3 years.
7 gr/l. dosage.
Classical blanc de blancs, notes of pears, somewhat sharp finish.

Bottle provided by Vintomas. Served blind.
Tells the story of ideal grape maturity and high acidity which isn't always the case in Alsace as well as an ideally exposed GC (Schoenenburg).

Nice mature Riesling aromas, strawberry, cheese, morning dew hinting at beginning nuttiness but still very fresh.

Excellent to drink now, don't hesitate to keep it another 5 years.

This last bottle was in better shape than the previous althoubh, lightbrown colour and oxidised aromas it went perfectly with the buttery scallops.

From Magnum.
This bottle was in really good shape with only start of a brick rim colour.
A little bit still on the fruit with charachteristic age aromas (blueberry) coming through nicely and tannins are gone. A decent acidity. I would not hesitate to keep it another 5 years.

A carnivores wine!
Meaty and yet with an uplifting and earthy acidity.
The soil comes through beautifully in this vintage, feels very chalky and alive!
It is essential to control the temperature, serve it 18-20 C and you will feel this surgical precision, otherwise it might feel unfocused.
A touch of oak and nice tannins suggests it will continue to deliver well in this way another 3 years before transforming and showing mature Syrah notes. Should drink really well until 2020!
Since it is very well made I would not expect it to gain more points, just change character.
A carnivores wine since it would be the perfect match to red meat and a fat sauce!

Purchased and cellared for about +10 years.
Golden colour.
Mousse is there but less of course.
Red apples and mushroom, acidity is srying out and gives a slightly heavy finish.

Ridge Zinfandel 1994-2010 (Brussels): Very good acidity and fruit. Less cool and a bit jammier than the Lytton Springs 2010 but very balanced and nice.

On the palate tastes very hot jammy albeit with high acidity (added?). In a very sour mood right now.

Day 1: initially marked by oak and very high acidity. Mineral and fruit. A youngster that needs air.
Day 3: with the acidity lower now the fruit shows more and definitely has medium concentration, the oak is gone. Nice minerality and raw meatiness.
Give it another year and let it breathe before enjoying.

Disgorged October 2012.
Very seductive already with notes of very luxurious multi-dimensional apple sauce with hints of oak treatment. Same on the palate with a very refreshing acidity. Feels very low dosage, lower than the displayed Brut. Compared to the 2002 this is more extrovert but less intellectual. Should provide excellent drinking now-2025.
The fruit was particularly reminiscent of a small grower I hold dear in Aÿ.

Ridge Zinfandel 1994-2010 (Brussels): Almost brick color.
Dark, raw fruit of red orange, vanilla, mature notes; earthy on the nose.
On the palate medium body, round fruit with an unbalanced acidity and some wood tannins marking it with an unbalanced end impression. Should have been drunk although I imagine this has always given an overoaked impression.

Green banana initially and then a fruity weightlessness already on the nose. Lots of minerality and a round fine fruit on the palate.
The wine levitates before you. 94+
