Might have left this a bit too long - not as good as earlier bottles but still pleasant

I am in 2 minds re this wine. Is it slightly past its best and drink up OR in a bit of a closed phase and wait OR just bottle variation? Enjoyable but not as stunning as i would expect for this year and this wine.

Not quite at same level as last nights Charles Heidsieck NV but still a very nice NV Champagne. Apparently his bottle had 2010 base vintage and was disgorged in 2014. Last nights Charles had 2012 base vintage which may explain it.

5/3/21, 2:37 PM - Thanks for question. Yes i do. Roederer put as much care into their NV as they do Crystal and Heidsieck is just so under-valued. I love Pol and Bollinger NV but they are often more expensive than these 2

5/8/21, 4:20 AM - Re your comment on putting disgorgement etc on labels - I agree strongly. It is a slowly growing trend and even relatively small grower champagnes are doing it. It helps judge drinking window etc but also great to compare different champagnes with similar disgorgement dates or even same champagne with different disgorgement dates

I am confused - can you help. I really enjoyed this bottle and especially after i had given it an hour or so in glass (I didn't decant). Its colour and taste profile (tannins) suggest it has plenty of drinking window left although v pleasant right now. Indeed many comments on CT say just that and collectively we have 69% of our purchases still un-consumed. BUT many observers/critics - incl Jancis - are saying drink up your 2001's. What do people think?

Very underrated. Delicious - esp with bit more bottle age and an hour in the glass

Delicious BUT just showing - way to go

7/15/20, 12:11 PM - Depends how you like your Champagnes as to whether 2 or 5 years timeframe. Personally I'd go for 5 or longer - if I can keep my hands off them!

Nice but a bit disappointing - one hour of decanting may not have been enough judging by the bright red ruby colour
