Our New Year’s day family tradition is the all-weather BBQ – this year rainy & unseasonably mild in the Garden State. Picked the 03 HD Reserve Shiraz to complement filet mignon (with sautéed mushrooms, baked potato & peas). Decanted for 1 hour before dinner…an initially meaty aroma gave way to faint menthol over time. We poured before serving dinner…deep, dark maroon…big fruity cherry/berry flavors and a nice long lingering finish. My wife though it a bit too hot & heavy by itself, but when paired with a medium-rare filet & Peter Luger steak sauce this was awesome (she agreed). All-in-all a good choice for dinner.

Color of orange marmelade, aromas of apricot/toast, melon/honey/lemon flavors with a long peppery finish - wonderful.

Outstanding - one of the best California pinots I've ever had. Fruit forward (as expected), but not overpowering. Faint fruity aroma...strawberry in the fore, blueberry undertones with subtle spice, but not peppery...nice smooth tannins and a medium long finish. Should only improve with age.

This may be past its prime...not much of a nose, muted fruit, and not at all complex...a hint of meaty/gamy character, but somwhat dull & thin. Since I purchased recently I cannot exclude that it was badly kept and is showing subtle signs of heat damage.

Popped & poured at restaurant. Faint berry/spice aromas with a bit of barnyard funk which blew off over time...initially strawberry/raspberry flavors evolving to cherry with smooth, silky tannins, some spicy/peppery undertones and a medium long finish. Excellent.

Nice faint nose of pears & lemon citrus which predominates upon drinking, clean, focused vibrancy, nice subtle minerality on the finish. Enjoyed.

Decent chard - pale yelow...citrus nose...lemon/pear/fig flavors, not much depth, "racy" acidity - good value.

Consumed over 2 nights. Poured upon initial opening: inky dark red-purple, dark cherry/currant aromas, medium bodied soft tannins with muted red fruitiness, medium long finish. On second night: meaty aromas of Worcester Sauce, subtle cassis fruit and meaty mellow tannins, smooth medium long finish. A pleasurable pairing with veal & pasta.

Nice for a Caifornia fruit bomb - cherry / red berry nose, and a whack of BIG FRUIT cherry on the tongue with undertones of mild tannins adding tar, spice & faint pepper. Not much of a finish, but overall well-balanced and certainly not hot. Good value zin blend.

Just after decanting had minimal nose, but after 1 hr. began to open revealing a faint raspberry/strawberry fragrance. 3 hr. after decanting, drank with NY strip steak dinner. Nose had become more muted with raspberry & forest floor; medium body with subtle cassis and dominant menthol / spice layers; balanced acidity, smooth tannic backbone and a medium finish. A decent burg for the money.

Nice cherry/berry nose; concentrated and intense fruit with undertones of pepper/spice; medium long finish. Good balance with mildly astringent tannins. An excellent example of "new world" style pinot.

On the sweeter side with minimal acidity, this mature wine shows a ripe fruit nose with flavors of apple, peach, and pear and spicy overtones - very nice. Despite a moldy cork, there was no taint to the wine.
