Simply stunning wine drinking at a perfect moment. Richer than i anticipated but beautifully balanced and the texture is evolving bringing breadth and luxury. Aromatics required little encouragement and its a pleasure to enjoy.

Brilliant showing for this wine. Had not had a bottle for over 2 years and it has moved to a fantastic place. Elegant yet showing the blood and iron that marks out the terroir. As soon as I opened the bottle the aromatics were intense and broad - just smiled! It has a much more gentle palate than I was expecting with he tannins quite resolved and silky. Very luxurious mouthfeel expressing many flavours. Happy to have 9 more of a case and highly recommended.

Very pretty wine for a Cornas - deep blackberry and leafy scents but not in abundance. Beautiful texture, strong fruit forward wine but not as exciting or as wild as I have experienced in the past from Allemand. Lovely wine, but at this stage it perhaps needs more slumber.

This is such a tremendous wine. I've had nearly half a case and it really over delivers for its tariff and village level. Really complex nose thats as bright as it is broad, but it really delivers on the palate with an exotic but not overblown mix of tropical fruits and citrus with a refreshing cut of acidity.

Starts with an enormous melange of bright fruits and secondary characteristics, although this does diminish over time and it starts becoming more elusive. On the palate, this has a lovely texture with more earthy flavours combining with red fruits and a hint of blueberry. As ou would expect with the vintage the acids are pronounced, but it gives it energy. It falls a little short on the finish but still has plenty of upside and potential.

Really delicious and drinking perfectly. Strong and powerful nose leads to a composed palate which grows in intensity but retains balance and structure. Tannins still there but as it takes in air it gets into very exciting territory and works beautifully with food. Probably the best Barolo I have tasted to date.

Special experience. Wonderully mature colour liked brushed burgundy leather, with a sweet soft and spicy nose. It was the texture of this wine that really stood out, gorgeous in the mouth, so light yet unctous fruit and a long savoury finish, with the merest hint of tannin. Real treat and glad to have a couple more.

Very interesting wine - strong nose of medicinal herbs as the last poster noted, with tonnes of meat and very little fruit. The palate reflects the nose, but you get deep dark brambly fruit. With air it begins to change albeit slowly. We came back to it 3 days later, and it was absolutely fabulous, with dark fruits and earth coming to the nose and the texture became very velvety with an excellent concentration. Good stuff!

I thought this was terrific. Incredibly intense aromas, big and bold. The palate was medium bodied, wide and expansive but without agressive tannins. Its a big wine, but its very lovable.

Absolutely great bottle. First bottle was corked, but this has an immediate sweet aroma of darker fruits and earth. Very complex nose that evolved over the evening. I found the palate to be every bit as good as the nose and for its level this is great.

Started out as wonderfully aromatic, but slightly disjointed in the mouth. However, with plenty of air it all came together, the last glass offering fabulous texture with star of anise, meat and dark fruits. Perhaps lacking a bit of acidity on the finish. V Good.

Cool restrained and elegant nose, which becomes more complex with air and warmth turning to citrus, minerals and a hint of toffee. Very lithe in the mouth with fresh acidity. Not overly complex and perhaps lacks a bit of energy to be at the top of the tree but a delicious and elegant drink.
White
Rich nose of apricots, quince, wool and honey. The palate is full of honeyed spricots, lemons and cutting acidity which is long and fulfilling. Great texture and it requires food to balance out. At peak now.
Red
Wonderfully expressive nose of earth, tobacco, faded tart red fruits, bruised apples and smoke. The palate is graceful, tannins mellow but apparent. The flavours are so complex, with baked plums, cranberries, cinnamon, cigars, burnt leaves, and a spice i cannot figure out. The texture is lithe and gently mouth filling. Its always elegant, and is a very savoury wine in a way that belies its origins as grapes. Fascinating and wonderful. My only bottle sadly but such an appropriate way to end 2012 and see in 2013.

A lovely accessible Aligote, made by a legend that makes wine twice the price look very ordinary. Quite a creamy/oaty nose with hints of mango and exotic fruit (just hints nothing overblown). A clean dry and piercing entry but expansive and with a clean finish.

Purchased 2 bottles in Lyon recently and drank the first tonight with porcini and chanterelles. On opening, the smell shot out of the top of the bottle with a gorgeous perfume. Letting the first pour sit for a while blew away any cobwebs and brought forth beautifully pure red fruits with smoke, mushrooms and iron. The nose evolved throughout the evening understandably, more black fruited with marked animal notes and some vegetal aromas towards the end. I also picked up on a baked apple smell which i found very appealing. On the palate it was beautifully balanced with a mixture of red and black fruits baked with just a hint of apple, pine sap, vibrant acidity, and a long tingling finish with just a touch of grainy tannins later in the evening. There is no doubt this bottle was very well looked after and as a bottle of wine, I am hard pressed to remember a bottle i have enjoyed more, although it was not a showy wine, and was perfect with the food. A sign of perfection to me!

This is such an elegant wine, yet it packs so much flavour and detail. I would say it is perfectly drinking now, as the texture has become silky and cleansing. It reminds me in style to Barthod's wines, which defy scoring and are just beautifully nuanced creations.

Wow!!! Gorgeous complex nose with all sorts of tertiary aromas of earth, plums, leather, tobacco and spices but sll in harmony. The palate is smooth but energetic, amd so very fine and silky. The flavours have intensified as its been open and it is so long and refreshing for a near 30 year old bottle of juice. An absolute beauty of a wine. Wish i had more!

Wonderful bottle of wine. Started off a bit funky, which i like. Plenty of horse! Nose offered tar, dark fruits, dried flowers and a hint of mint. It was the palate that i thought so elegant, fresh entry, with an explosion of flavour in the midpalate and an acidic lift and soft tannins on the long finish. Mulberries and rasberries, spice, tobacco and a touch of mint. Very happy to have picked this up at auction with three more for not very much.

Decanted for 1 hour. Good aromatics of dusty red and black fruits, black tea and some earth. There is a slight mushroom note that just hints in the background. Strong red fruits and blueberries, good expanson and good acidity to balance out the ripe fruit. Slightly bitter finish. This closed up aromatically. After 3 hours or so, but the palate was still very much alive.

I am quite stunned with this wine. It delivers everything I want from the Nebbiolo grape. Its inexpensive, detailed and delicious. On the second night it delivered even more fruit with delicious liquorice overtones and of course a wonderfully expressive nose of roses, liquorice and earth. LIght bodied yet plenty of flavour and just a great drink.

Gorgeous sumptuous nose, well padded with lovely maturing aromas, but at the heart a great line of citrus. Very engaging palate that had stages of flavour and perhaps not enough acidity to really hit the highest notes but nonetheless a spectacular bottle of white burgundy which is drinking a point right now.

What a treat! Glorious nose that is shifting and changing, but with nuts, butter, lemon cream and a touch of mint. Still some lemon fruit on the palate and great acidity. Lovely texture too, which glistens and keeps a nice structure to thw wine. Paid little of a tenner and its needless to say a bargain.

Very much a tale of two halves. First the nose is clean and sprightly with red fruits and spice, with a tart cranberry and stewed apple/rhubarb palate. As it got more air, and drinking the following evening, the smell of bonfire crept in and by day two the palate of cranberry had almost been overwhelmed by a smoky taste and finish. As a whole it is well balanced, slightly sour, great acidity - a wonderful frame and magic with food. I loved it and also its evolution. Very pleasing and shame I have no more!

Quite restrained and tight to begin with, very linear but elegant. By day 2 this was another animal altogether, wonderful butter, nutty lemons on the nose. Broad flovours that are still hanging from a strong structure with great acidity on the finish.

Big powerful nose, very broad and impressive which resonates of northern rhone. The tastes follow on from the nose, with deeply pitched fruits, spice but with great freshness on the finish. This freshness is crucial in order to balance the big flavours and keeps it in balance. Great wine.

There are a lot of negative comments about this wine below, and I am confused as this was a fantastic bottle of Sancerre. Wonderfully fragrant, well balanced and great acidity. Its a very good not great wine which demands food, with aromatics of baked apples yet quite flinty/mineral notes, then classic orange/lemon flavours with good biting acidity that would cut perfectly through pork rillettes. Very enjoyable!

I don't understand a lot of the negative comments about this wine. This bottle was fantastic. Very aromatic, the flavours start with a sprtiziness that leads to a stunningly pure fruited taste. The flavour resonates for a goo while and has a clean acidic cut to the finish. Like a lot of natural wines, the fruit flavour is full on, and it lacks a touch of minerality for overall balance, but its a good drink.

I didn't feel this wine showed well at all. Initial nose was earthy and lovely but it faded very quickly and what was left was muted and hints of licorice. Quite structured palate, with in my view not enough sweet fruits to balance out the savoury elements. Perhaps its the style thats not to my liking, and expected a great deal more from this wine. Perhaps decanting may have helped, but not sure it would. Disappointing!

A magnificent wine! We had this over 2 days and it kept getting better and better. It has so much power yet is light, agile and subtle if that makes sense! Wide aromatics that really sing with warmth. It was a pleasure just to leave in the glass and enjoy its aromatics. It is framed with oak but in a very subtle and caring way, not with abandon. The flavours remain in the mouth for ever and it is a laser like in its precision. I really fell in love with this wine and will seek out more from the producer. If it makes sense at all, the way in which this is made reminded me of the way Fourrier treats his wines. Clever winemaking!

Slightly muted to begin with but with time and warmth this showed wonderful nuanced aromas. The palate was equally as beguiling, very classical, structured and not in showy. Classy, refined and subtle - i really loved it and there is a touch more to taste after a day to see where this may be going.

Incredible wine. Aromatically complex, with a beautiful ball of dark and red fruitswrapped in roasted meats, leather, pepper and blood. You can find so much on the nose, its very alive. Palate is rich and maintains the fruit, with mouth filling complexity and great length of fruit meatiness with lovely acidity. Spanking wine and surely has many years left.

Great bottle of wine - in particular with food. It started off pretty stinky and this blew off quickly to reveal classic smells of black fruits, leather, herbs (rosemary) and earth. Surprisingly delicate texture with velvety tannins and long herby finish that follows wonderful deep fruit. Can't imagine drinking this all the time but it was great fun and joyous!

Impressive showing having tasted 2009 at domaine. The 07 is better resolved with the tannins noticebly rounder and sweeter. The 40% syrah shines through with the balancing cabernet helping the structure of the nose. Very nicely judged actually with the olive and garrigue notes being joined by a touch of pencil box. Quite rich flavours of black fruits, savoury meats, clove and touch of cocoa on the finish. Good drink and lovely domaine.

Bought directly from the domaine, which is wonderful with the terraced vines behind the house. Expressive nose of lychees in syrup with a spiced nuance. Noticebly clean fragrance. Good intensity in the mouth, with sweet baked fruits, spices and a good streak of minerality with balancing acidity. Medium length. Not a fireworks wine but elegant and matched perfectly with a fig tart.

Big burly nose of cherries, cranberries and earth. The cranberries very evident on the palate with cola notes and bright acidity. Not at all in balance at this stage but plenty of material for a village wine and although not my prefered style, i think this will benefit from ageing. My first bottle from this producer and will seek out some bottles with more age.
